Fishburne stars in Fled, the 1996 update of Sidney Poitier’s classic The Defiant Ones premiering on TV One Saturday at 6pm(ET). Henry Simmons stars in the multilayered drama South of Pico on Saturday and Sunday at 8pm (ET).

FLED: In this scene, Laurence Fishburne and Stephen Baldwin are in the middle of one of their many escapes from the cops when Fishburne reveals something big. Is he telling the truth? Watch and judge.

SOUTH OF PICO: Henry Simmons stars as Dr. Walter Chambers, a man desperate to get more funding for his research and help a young cancer patient who only wants to go home to die. Watch and judge.

THIS WEEK: Ice Cube comes up against his most formidable foe, himself. Cube stars in TWO movies this weekend Higher Learning (Saturday and Sunday at 7:30pm[ET]) and Trespass (Friday and Saturday at 10pm[ET]). He’s a bad ass in both films but it’s up to you to decide which movie he showed Cube at his coolest.

Higher Learning: In John Singleton’s classic look at race and higher education, Cube plays Fudge, a “super senior” who takes NO stuff. In this scene, he rushes a frat house after learning someone committed the number one sin — calling a Black woman the B word. Watch and judge.

Trespass: Ice Cube teamed with fellow rapper/actor/chilled beverage Ice-T for the action-drama Trespass which finds a group of criminals and treasure seekers facing off in an abandoned building. Cube plays tough guy Savon who is more likely to shoot first and ask questions later. Watch and judge.

LAST WEEK: Pam Grier vs. Alfre Woodard

THIS WEEK: We though we’d switch things up and instead of pitting actors against each other, we’d have movie scenes duke it out for supremacy. So we’ve picked three of the most hilarious scenes from the blaxploitation-spoof <em>I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (premiering Friday and Sunday at 10pm [ET]) and are leaving it up to you to decide which is truly the funniest.

Scene 1: It’s barely longer than a minute, but Chris Rock’s cameo scene has produced the film’s most quoted line. Everybody together now . . . “How much for one rib?” Watch and judge.

Scene 2: In this age of plastic surgery, contact lenses and weaves, it’s hard for a brother to really know who he’s dating. Jack Spade (Keenan Ivory Wayans) learns this lesson the hard way in one of funniest scenes in the film. Watch and judge.

Scene 3: “It’s hard out here for a pimp.” Retired man-of-leisure Flyguy (Antonio Fargas) found no love when he stepped out in his 70s threads, including the most inventive shoes we’ve ever seen. Watch and judge.

FRIDAY FOSTER: Grier plays a plucky newspaper reporter whose investigation into the death of a friend uncovers a plot that includes high up in the government.

In this scene, Friday impersonates a church reporter in order to get closer to her target. However, she’s not ready for her interviewee’s “hands on” approach. Watch and judge.

Funny Valentines: Alfre Woodard and Loretta Devine play long-time friends who reunite when their lives start to fall apart.

In this scene, Joyce (Woodard) answers the door to find an old flame standing there. But why is she so upset? See what’s got her bothered. Watch the clip and judge.

As a crime-scene cleaner, Jackson keeps a low profile, that is until he cleans up a crime scene in Eva Mendes’ house. When she gets the inkling that something has gone wrong with her husband and her life, she comes to the man she thinks may have the answers.

Not only did Hollywood have some big comedy stars — including icon Paul Mooney and Franklin Ajaye — but it launched the careers of major talent like Keenan and Damon Wayans, John Witherspoon and Anne-Marie Johnson all who went on to star in features like In Living Color, Friday and I’m Gonna Git You Sucka.

In the end, Townsend’s classic did what so few do. Instead of just complaining about Hollywood, he literally did something about it by creating a new Black Hollywood himself.

But even in those roles as the “likeable” Black guy, Poitier also represented the righteous rage we felt. Sure, he wasn’t burning down houses or clocking racists folks in the face, but that didn’t mean Poitier took any mess though. Yes, he was “acceptable” and “gracious,” but Poitier was also no fool as seen in the coolest moment from Lilies.

But the coolest part of Cooley was how it treated the lives of young, Black men. It showed Black boys as they were, just boys having fun. Sure there were some issues with drugs and criminal behavior, but no more than any other American story — it’s no wonder critics compared it to American Graffitti, George Lucas’ ode to 60’s teen life.

And while there are plenty of scenes in the film that highlight the love and life these characters shared, the coolest one we found was this gem as Preach (Turman) and Cochise (Jacobs) pose as cops while trying to cut a deal with some women WAY out of their league. Watch it here.
