HATER WATCH: CHENEY CALLS OBAMA “AFRAID”
Another day, another slam from former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Yesterday, while speaking at the Center for Security Policy, Cheney commented on the current administration’s Afghan war decision making by saying “The White House must stop dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger. Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries.”
In the end, Cheney said that President Obama seems “afraid to make a decision.
The President has been working with his war council for weeks now to determine if and how many more troops will be sent to Afghanistan following an informal request from General Stanley McChrystal
for more boots on the ground.
Lately, Pres. Obama has said that his decision will be based on cooperation with the Afghan government which is facing a November 7 runoff election after its first election this year resulted in reported fraud.
TELL US: Do you think the Obama administration is taking too long to make a decision on Afghanistan or is Cheney just being a sore loser?

Dick Cheney is entitled to his opinion but while he calls Pres. Obama out for inaction, his former administration with former Pres. Bush didn’t exactly yield great results either in the long run!
And for those that say there hasn’t been an attack in 9/11, I say look at the facts. Al Queda could’ve been stopped as early as the Clinton Administration and Bush’s but they either failed to do so or just ignored it completely. Plus, remember, these jokers waited almost a decade to do 9/11 so who’s to say they won’t wait another 10 years or so to do it again?
I want Pres. Obama to do something but, unlike the previous administration, I want it done right! Better to hold off and make the right moves at the right time than rush in and have a mess like we do right now over there!

Ervin, I agree with you to a certain extent. But, we must remember: Obama came in office and said this was the war not the one in Iraq. He placed his own man in Afghanistan, McChrystal. Now his man says we need more troops. That was almost 60 days ago. The administration now says they will wait for Afghan elections. For what I don’t know. If 40,000 more troops is required we have two options. Pull out or send the troops. As it stands right now our troops are fighting a losing battle because more troops are needed.

Cheney, and his Timex heart, resurface occasionally to remind conservatives that their purpose should be absolute opposition to the new president.
With the Afghan run-off election only two weeks away, it’s not critical that a decision be made prior to that. Even if president Obama announced today that the troops should immediately desist and retreat for their return home, it’s not likely that their families will see them on U.S. ground by 7 November. If he were to send more troops to the country, their greatest opposition to accomplishing their mission might be Afghanistan’s president.
The mission in Afghanistan was to root out Osama bin Laden and disassemble Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Neither has yet been accomplished. Although the Taliban experienced a collapse in 2001 after 9/11, they’ve seen a resurgence since 2004. Al-Qaeda has had time to proliferate and strengthen since the 9/11 attacks because focus was taken off them and redirected toward Iraq. Consequently, the second part of that mission may be nearly impossible now. But, since a leader’s ideological flow sets the tone for policies and how they’re implemented, president Obama has stated that he wants a credible Afghan government in place before proceeding. Elections stolen by self-serving regimes encourage and facilitate lawlessness throughout a land. The cooperation of the leaders in that region is crucial to the success of the original mission.
As of 11 October 2009, there have been 1,384 coalition deaths in Afghanistan since this war began. That is not count the death of the native Afghanistan people.
My question is how lives is it worth to continue this so called mission?
Candidate Obama promised the American people that he would end the Bush wars and bring home our troops. He has not done so. He won the election mainly because of his opposition to the wars and after nine months in office the troops are still fighting.
And he is thinking of sending more our BROTHERS, SISTERS, NIECES, NEPHEWS, MOTHERS FATHERS, HUSBANDS, WIVES ETC. to Afghanistan. I lost my nephew in Afghanistan since he took office and this is one vote he will not get in 2012.
Obama is nothing more than closeted Muslim who is turning out to be worst that Bush.
Berry, the Iraqi “mission” hasn’t been worth ANY loss of life. However, even if the Afghanistan mission had been accomplished quickly as initially promised – “get in and get out” is what we were told, if I remember precisely – the costs in lives would still have been too great. War is much too complex and messy to resolve quickly or easily. I knew the “in and out” promise was a lie the first time I’d heard it in 2001. But, at that time, we were still reeling from the trauma of 9/11. So, I accepted the declaration of war as a necessary action, to find the people who were responsible for those tragedies.
I would like to see the troops come home too. I just believe that we’re embroiled in such a deep mess, there’s no simple way out of it.
Leave it to Mr. Phallic Personality himself to cast meticulous forethought and the marshaling of credible intelligence and a genial political landscape as cowardice. Couldn’t wait until Halloween to get his ‘Boogey Old Man’ on. Sore loser? Let’s try Sore and Loser. How many people have accomplished being both a draft dodger and a war criminal? I am sorry to hear about your nephew. He should be honored for protecting our way of life. I agree with you: I will not vote for this guy in 2012 either. Of course, he didn’t get my vote in 2008.
I will not vote for Obama for different reasons. I think by now you know what they are. This war is important. If we pull out Al Queda organizes and has a safe haven. Obama is not making a decision because it is above his pay grade and he is just plain unsure. How does he know better than a general on the ground knows? Everyone, at least on the left, somehow thinks Obama is this great Einstein and knows everything. I see it differently. Obama has no war experience let alone executive experience and it shows.
We either attack there or get attacked here. That’s what it amounts to. Bin Laden has vowed to strike again. We may never find him but I strongly believe we must deter any efforts for the terrorists to strike again. We have thwarted at least 6 attempts in the last couple of months here. This seems to be far from over. I don’t like war but if McChrystal is sure about the amount of troops needed to do the job I believe we must do it.

Larry, if we don’t FIND the terrorists, then how can we deter them? Their freedom makes a poor deterrent from striking again. Also, you fail to realize that terrorism in 2009 is not the same as terrorism of thirty years ago. There are numerous sects now that are continually growing. We’d have a better chance of bringing about the extinction of rats. It’s not as though the FBI have a list of only twelve people to go after, and checking off the last one will annihilate terrorism.
It’s not my intention to condone any part of terrorism. Terrorists are people who’ve lived a lifetime seething in anger over some real or imagined infracton against them. They choose to take it out on people who had nothing to do with the source of their anger. Yet still, there is something we, as a nation of privilege, should have learned from the events of 9/11: we CAN NOT AFFORD to ignore the suffering of others, because eventually their problems will encroach upon our world, one way or another.
This is why I keep telling you, Larry, that it makes no sense to be stingy about providing healthcare to everyone. Humanity is like the body. Whatever affects one part of it, eventually permeates the whole. I borrowed that from a famous book.

Rance, I have no problem with the uninsured getting health care. The problem is that this HC is not about HC. Its about changing the flow of money and power in the economy. That’s why we are against it. If they control HC then they control 1/6 of the economy. That’s the goal.
There are ways to cover the uninsured without spending trillions and trillions of dollars. There are ways without taking $500 billion from the medicare plan and thus affecting the care seniors get. There are ways to do it without driving private insurance out of business. There are ways to do it without causing a shortage of doctors. What doctor in their right mind is going to stay in practice making 30% less than what he was making before. Plus what will that do to the talent pool of new doctors coming in? They will not do med school. Illegal aliens, here and coming? The list goes on.
What about fraud. You just can’t add 50 million people without tighter fraud controls. Hasn’t been addressed.
The HC fiasco is about power over the economy. The way they want it set up they will be able to affect the money flow within health care and control corporations. If they were so concerned about the uninsured why not just put them in on the medicaid or medicare plan? Simple. Because its more complicated than just insuring the uninsured. They want to actually control 1/6 of the economy and then go after the other parts of the economy like energy. Without the public option they have no control or power. That’s why they are basically ignoring everything else and betting the house on the public option. They don’t care about people and HC. What they really care about is power.
The war in Afghanistan is not about capturing terrorists. Its about securing Afghanistan so that it does not become a haven for these people Obama wants to mirandize when they get get captured. Its about driving out and taking away power from the Taliban who support Al Quada.
Larry, what are the ways? Count the ways. During his healthcare speech before Congress in September, President Obama issued a public invitation to republicans to submit their ideas on healthcare. So far, the only thing I’ve heard come from the republicans are more potshots. That was their second chance to do something about healthcare. The first, was during the last eight years of a republican administration. But what was their motivation? They already have excellent healthcare. Case in point, Dick The Terminator Cheney; He announces, “I’ll be back.” Then they send him off to an undisclosed location (secret lab) for restoration, and he returns like new. Though, I guess we really don’t want everyone to become immortal via lack of a soul.
Those who can, do. And those who can’t, criticize those who can. If the republicans were actually concerned with common good for the benefit of the country and its citizens, rather than their own glorification, there would likely be no partisanship…or at least, not the kind that’s obstructive.

Republicans have introduced tort reform, opening state borders so that all can have access to the 1300 health insurance companies available ( which will increase competition), allowing smaller groups to form their own risk pool. But they were beat back by Dodd , Frank and Obama. You see Dodd and Obama receive their largest donations from Freddie and Fannie. They were No. 1 and 2 on Fannie’ and Freddie’s contribution list.
Now go back to 1995 or 1996 when Obama , as an attorney , represented Acorn in a lawsuit against Citi Bank and Bank of America. The charge: not giving enough loans to lower income citizens. They won the suit.
Now Obama comes into office in 2009 and tries to place all the subprime mess on Bush. This was a piece of rhetoric that jetted him into office. If Mccain was any brighter he could have illustrated the points I have stated above but apparently he had other plans.
This is all in writing folks. You can start with the NY Times piece in 9-03 explaining Bush’s wishes and desires to reign in those institutions. Summer MN is right on target. All the mainstream outlets including CNN have been in the tank for Obama. It is sad to watch. But, the good news is Fox has more viewers than all of them put together so the numbers don’t lie. The President should keep on with his war with Fox, ignoring critical issues with this country. It will haunt him in 2012.
Larry, that’s not likely to happen soon. I had turned away from Fox before President Obama’s decision not to appear on the network. It’s a decision I support.

Let me be clear: I have opposed the US act of aggression that has occurred in Iraq from its inception. Because al-Queda is actually harbored in Afghanistan, I understand that action was taken there. That said, I’m angry that our service people were not provided the best and safest equipment while in Afghanistan, nor have they been well-taken care of upon their return. The Walter Reed scandal is sickening.

Regardless of the actual facts, the notion that any organization is “doing something right” because of its readership or number of members is an incorrect assumption. All it means is that there are many people who agree with the messages that are being presented. The readership/circulation/viewership has nothing to do with the quality and/or accuracy of the reporting.
Also, US News and World (Report) is not a newspaper, it’s a news magazine. It’s in the same category as Time and Newsweek. So, to compare its circulation to that of a newspaper is flawed.

The actual circulation figures are not available until tomorrow. The reports that WSJ has taken over USA Today is from the WSJ. It also bears noting that WSJ circulation includes paid print and web subscriptions. USA Today doesn’t offer web-subscriptions, so the comparison is skewed. That’s beside my point, though. My point, which I previously made, is that the circulation/viewership of any media outlet doesn’t give credence to the notion that the outlet is, “doing something right.” It simply means that there are a given number of people who agree with the messages that are being presented. The only time there is a problem is when you misquote to fulfill your purpose, which is what you did the Christian nation statement uses to support that Obama was the “Anti-Christ.” Just reread what I wrote and you’ll see that I’ve said it before.
