White House Swagger: Michelle Obama Joins Maxim Hot 100

Michelle Obama is the hottest First Lady in the history of these United States!  At least that’s what the good folks over at Maxim magazine had to say about the first First Lady to ever appear in Maxim’s Hot 100 list.

That’s right! Michelle Obama lands at #93 on the much-anticipated list and the only thing she’s bearing are her arms.  While most of the ladies are wearing their sexiest ensembles, the magazine chose to use Michelle’s official White House First Lady photo, noting that she’s intelligent, sexy and beautiful all at the same time.

How does Barack feel?  On the President, Maxim added, “He may be dealing with two wars, an economic meltdown, and a rapidly graying dome, but at least our Commander in Chief gets to come home to the hottest First Lady…”

Should Michelle have been higher in the list?  Tell us here.

THE BIG STORY: Pres. Obama Opposes Photo Release

If you thought the torture issue was headed for a resolution, you may want to take your seat.  Each day, it seems as if the torture issue is becoming the Wimbledon of politics.  The debate over whether the President should release torture images has been back and forth and the latest news has the President opting not to.

This comes a day after Liz Cheney argued that by releasing the photos, the President was endangering US soldiers and painting America in a negative light.

What do you think?  Should the President release the images or should we protect the troops?  Tell us here.

HATE WATCH: DICK CHENEY’S DAUGHTER VS. PRES. OBAMA

“You know, President Obama has a lot of rhetoric about support for American military families, support for our men and women who are fighting for us overseas. But if he really cares about them, then he wouldn’t be making such an effort to release photos that show them in a negative light,” Liz Cheney stated during a recent interview with CNN.

As if hearing former Vice President Dick Cheney go on and on about his dissatisfaction with President Obama’s work wasn’t enough, his daughter Liz Cheney has stepped up to the attack plate and dished out her own two cents.  She’s a little upset with the Obama administration for releasing images of alleged abuse at U.S. prisons in Iraq during the Bush administration.

Our long-standing position has been that America doesn’t torture and it seems that the President is attempting to right our wrongs.

What do you think?  Is torture OK if we are getting information as a result?

PRES. OBAMA SEPARATES CHURCH FROM STATE?

Since 1952 we have observed the first Thursday in May as National Day of Prayer.  Although former Presidents like Reagan and both the Bushs have held special ceremonials and events recognizing the day, President Obama has decided not to have an official White House celebration.

President Obama’s decision comes with mixed reviews. Task Force Chairman Shirley Dobson spoke to CNN and stated that “at this time in our country’s history, we would hope our President would recognize more fully the importance of prayer.”  However, in a CNN interview, David Silverman, national spokesperson for the organization American Atheists, stated “We are very happy he did away with the George W. Bush-era celebrations and party, but we wish he wouldn’t do it at all. … When church and state are separate, separate is separate.”

The issue has always been controversial and was first recognized in the First Amendment—yet many of our government buildings and even our currency have some kind of religious influence.

What do you think? Should religion have a greater or lesser influence on government?  Tell us here.

PRES. OBAMA CRACKS DOWN ON TAX REFORM

“I want to see our companies remain the most competitive in the world. But the way to make sure that happens is not to reward our companies for moving jobs off our shores or transferring profits to overseas tax havens,” President Obama said in his White House Tax Reform address.

Pres. Obama and his administration have announced a tax reform plan that would raise $210 billion in tax revenue over the next 10 years.  The plan would include giving a tax cut for companies that do their research and development in the United States, thereby, creating more jobs and helping the U.S. economy grow.

While tax policy experts and corporate lobbyists don’t believe this is the best solution to the growing problem of companies off-shoring jobs, the rest of Americans are pleased by this news.  If it means that small towns with ex-factory workers will soon return to work—then it’s a move we need to make as soon as possible.

What do you think?  Should American based companies get greater rewards?  Tell us here.
