THE BIG STORY: PRESIDENT OBAMA WINS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

After becoming the first African-American to become president of the United States, Barack Obama now has another accomplishment to put on his mantle — Nobel Peace Prize Winner.

CNN.com reports that President Obama was awoken to get the good news to which he said he as humbled by the recognition.

So what did he win for? According to CNN.com, the Norwegian Nobel Committee gave the President teh award due to his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

Obama makes the fourth U.S. president to win such an award which Nobel Chairman Thorbjorn Jagland said came after a unanimous decision. He also mentioned that he hoped the prize would play a role in addressing tension in the Middle East.

TELL US: How do you think this award will affect President Obama’s ratings approval or his policies?

The President won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Who’s going to be the first to say:

He hadn’t done anything to deserve this award.

This proves that he’s too busy being a celebrity to effectively run this country.

His “peace” perspective is making us unsafe.

Awards don’t pay the bills.

It’s a stupid award, anyway.

Ad nauseum, ad infinitum.

I will stand proud and congratulate the President on this most prestigious award and I will thank the international community for its recognition that diplomacy trumps preemptiveness, seven days a week!

It’s going to be a great weekend!

AP

Kofi Annan, Nelson Mandela, Lech Walesa etc very deserving.
Barack Obama winning Nobel Peace Prize???
This is the joke of the century.

What has he done? What has he done? What has he done?

It is odd that the day after winning the Nobel Peace Prize Barack Obama is meeting with the Joint Chiefs on escalating the War effort in Afghanistan.

When is Obama going to get us out of these wars?

Congraulations, President Obama! What God has for you no one can keep from you! I see him trying harder than the last president we had to bring peace. I am glad they saw it and awarded him. Stay focused, President O and ignore the haters. When he wins, America wins! What don’t folks get about that? I am an American and want to see my president do well and reach out to others to try and mend the broken places. God continue to bless him and us too.

Here is a post from my personal blog:

Cowardice asks the question – is it safe?
Expediency asks the question – is it politic?
Vanity asks the question – is it popular?
But conscience asks the question – is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it because it is right.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The President has won the Nobel Peace Prize because of his commitment to and acts of diplomacy. These have each been missing in the US for the eight years. He’s made tremendous strides in his short time as President to bring about global coexistence. That he didn’t start at “zero” bears noting. He started in the whole that was dug by the Bush Administration. And, to deflate conservative posturing, this isn’t ‘Bush bashing.” It’s a statement of fact, not an indictment of Bush’s actions.

Obama has said that meetings without preconditions as well as thought and analysis before throwing more people into the intractable wars we are currently engaged in are the better ways to govern. He has said no to torture, rendition, and most things Patriot Act. No, he’s not perfect, not infallible, but he is, as are the others who have been honored with this award, a person of brilliance, commitment and above all, conscious.

I am hopeful that his detractors will share in this moment of international recognition and national pride. However, I am not naïve enough to be shocked if they cannot venture out of their cocoons.

This annoncement even took me by surprise. President Obama is just running through these history making moments. The first African American President and now the Nobel Peace Prize, what’s next? Congratulations, President Obama.

I can’t say I am sorry he won because I am not. I suspect its for his work that he’s done PRIOR to him being President because he hasn’t been in office long enough to get this.

In any case, congratulations to him!

Ervin,

That he would get the award for work he’s done PRIOR to becoming President is acceptable also. It’s for the all that has come before and the promise of what will come.

AP

I am laughing in the aisles at the responses. America has not let me down.

Here’s John McCain:
John McCain: “Americans are always pleased when their president is recognized by something on this order.”:

Here’s the Taliban (LOL@ called in from an undisclosed location – F’ing cowards!):
“We have seen no change in his strategy for peace. He has done nothing for peace in Afghanistan,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP.

“We condemn the award of the Nobel Peace Prize for Obama,” he said by telephone from an undisclosed location.

Yet, the conservatives and other sayers-of-nay are siding with the TALIBAN. They are siding with the TALIBAN over Sen. McCain.

Am I the only one who sees the irony (and madness) of what’s going on here. Or, is it possible, that just this once, the TERRORISTS are making sense! lmao!

This is a case of we honor you with this award, you better prove that you deserve it.

Sadly, though not surprisingly, there will be folks who will NEVER believe he deserves it. One of the greatest things about the US is our conflicting ideas and the progress that comes from the resulting tensions.

Question for you: what, IYO, could he do to “prove” he deserves it?

AP

I congratulate the President and I know there will be plenty of those to say he undeserving. I think the point of this honor is to show the POSSIBLE contribution for peace he is willing to make, they want him to follow through with that process of thinking. Everyone has seen his continuous efforts and he has made a point of extending a hand to all. Compassion and understanding are attributes many nations/countries around the world have not seen from an American President for some time. Many have experienced our unending arrogance.

I’m very pleased that the world recognized and awarded his efforts, even while many of his countrymen continue to disparage him, and his critics wasted no time pouncing upon this either. The announcement I heard early this morning, was accompanied by statements from conservatives that the award has been mitigated and doesn’t really stand for anything, anymore. Hmm. Sour grapes.

Berry, wars can’t be turned off like the flick of a light switch. That’s why they should always be the very last resort, in the first place.

Congratulations, President Obama.

Hey Rance,

Hope this is the start of a great weekend for you!

AP

Hi AP,

Every weekend is a great weekend! There are a lot of movies I want to see, and I’m going to try to make at least a couple of them since this will be an extended one. Hope yours will be a great weekend too.

This made my day all day. I’m so glad for President Obama being recognized for his incredible work he has done in his “rites of passage”.

This is a day for all Black/Afro-Americans all to rejoice!and be glad in it. God is just so Good to us! still we as a people will rise…

Hallelujah!

Hey AP, I read your response to me and your following ones. I have to say that’s scary and rather sad that conservatives hate Obama so much that they would almost side with The freakin’ Taliban! The same group that would just as soon see the U.S. lie in ashes!

Man, stop the hate! He’s your President whether you like it or not! Deal with it!

Congrats President Obama

Yes, Mr. President, you do deserve the Nobel Prize for Peace. If for nothing more than your vote against war in Iraq. But as it is, there is so much more. Including the fact that you have infused the international community with joy, hope, perhaps the belief that global peace is actually within reach. I have never witnessed anything like the celebrations that broke out all over the globe the night you were elected. I believe people worldwide are more amiable toward America and each other because of you. That is a monumental feat. Congratulations!

Peace!

Brenda W, sweet as always. Your postings are always good spirited. To bad I can’t say the same for a poster I rather skip over. This person annoys me with their pessimism he or she feels they’re always in the right of way. I choose to follow your lead if you don’t mind, you give a positive light.

Congratulations, to President Obama he is honorable.

Brenda W.,

Great comment (and not just because I agree with you!) :)

I am hopeful that the President can, through diplomacy and intelligent use of force (when needed), will help the US regain its preeminence on the global stage. Funny how his willingness to do that, rather than strike first because of what the enemy MIGHT do, is helping the global US reputation.

Those who think that diplomacy as a first action makes the US weak are, simply, wrong.

AP

All Americans should be reacting with great pride for our President being recognized by the world for the great leader he is. But some show hatred and disrespect…I feel so sad for those Americans.

it would seem that Obama winning the Nobel Peace prize represents a vote of confidence from Europe — that in itself is a nice change IMO

Brenda W writes:
“If for nothing more than your vote against war in Iraq.”

When did Obama elected to the US Senate?
Somehow, I think you have to be a senator in order to vote in the Senate. My history is a a bit foggy, so I might be missing something here.

Obama should not accept the award.

This is the Nobel Peace Prize, not the “Nobel Give People Hope Prize. Awarding Obama The Nobel actually devalued the award.
FACTS:
Nomination for the award was closed 11 days into his presidency.
Awards are there for achievements and recognition of work done.

How much work has Obama accomplished prior to being elected President and 11 days after?

The selection reflects bad judgment and simple political motivation of the Nobel selection committee.

The committee stated that they gave the Peace Prize to Obama to encourage his efforts towards international cooperation and peace.

MY BOOK ON HOW TO ACHIEVE GLOBAL PEACE WILL BE PUBLISH IN 2012. WILL I BE AWARDED FOR THE NOBEL PRIZE FOR LITERATURE in 2010?

Would you award the 2010 Oscar for best Male Actor to Denzel Washington (I love you, Denzel!!)for a movie to be released in 2011?”

This award defies logic. Give me my college diploma with just 11 days of study.(9 months). I’ll throw my daughter a baby shower before she is even pregnant. I plan to travel a lot 1n 2012, award me my frequent flier mileage. Sound ridiculous!!!

VOS,

You’re not doing a very good job of skippinnnng!!

Don’t read this too:

You need to go on and get all that animosity out of your system so that you can move forward. You’re the first person I’ve seen to drag disputes from one blog to the next. Try to leave your grudges where they started. For some reason, this has become very personal for you. I didn’t know that any of the blog topics were supposed to be about ‘vicious one speaking’. If you didn’t get your issue with something said, off your chest on the blog where it was posted, then going forward, leave it there.

Finish your vent, here and now. I won’t even respond to it so that you’ll get to have the last word. Then, as if this were a schoolyard fight, that should be the end of it.

Brenda W, on the other hand, I respect her views. And, if I insulted her in any way, I truly apologize for any of my mishaps. She has been a author who has expressed her words in a way that sends a message of amiable love. She knows how to get it done without being mean spirited to raise concious levels.

Thats my gripe with you. I had to get it of my chest. Now, can we all get along without anymore disrespect towards one anothers opinions?.. So, whats next?

Peace!

Wouldn’t it be great if President Obama would be President of the World.

Okay, not to poke whatever “drama” is going on here today, but VOS, you state that you, “had to get it off your chest,” yet want that, “now can we all get along without anymore (sic) disrespect …” I think that’s a very ironic request considering you just vented on someone else’s opinion.

Just one person’s observation.

AP

Anyway, that’s not what I came to say….

A little tidbit for people who keep harping on the fact that President had not been in office very long when his name was connected to the Nobel Peace Prize.

http://nobelprize.org/nomination/peace/process.html

Although NOMINATIONS were closed within two weeks of his becoming President, VOTING did not end until as late as August. Now, I know that this little factoid won’t matter to those who have been doing the panty-bunched Twist the past few days, but at least their panties will be bunched having CORRECT information.

Doesn’t that feel better? :)

Here are 2 other sitting US Presidents who won the Nobel Peace Prize and what they won it for

THEODORE ROOSEVELT, USA. Drew up the 1905 peace treaty between Russia and Japan.
THOMAS WOODROW WILSON, Founder of the Nations (League of Nations) aka the U.N.

The Nobel Prize nomination process started in September 2008. In February, they collect all nominations and begin to decide on a short list of candidates. Over the next eight months, they interview and decide on the winners, who they announce in October. The process in which they do it is simple, but according to that time frame, Barack Obama was most likely nominated before he took office. Even if someone nominated him on Feb. 1, the last day to nominate, he would only be in office for 11 days.

Now someone please explain to me what BARACK OBAMA has done in his short time in office to deserve this honor?

“I choose to follow your lead if you don’t mind, you give a positive light.” -VOS

Thanks for the compliment, V, but if you follow my lead, you will stick to the issues and not attack the character of others. Hmmm. First AJ, now Rance. Please know that since I started posting here, I have been following her lead. Yes, her style is more aggressive than mine, but the sister is always on point. Brenda W, I came with all sincerity from my heart with an apology you choose to go with the winning side thats cool. You can have your time with your cronies, but in time ya’ll turn on yourselves. I wasn’t the one who started with attacking others opinions. Remember I asked not for anyone to comment on what I said about A.j. and I’m not going to deny what I wrote and I meant every word of it.

Once again, all peace and prosperity to Our President Barak Obama on his award of recognition.

Peace!

It’s sad that we live in a country that doesn’t support it’s President hell even people whose sons and daughters were killed in Iraq supported Bush without even really understanding what they were fighting for. I am pleased we have President Obama…Why does every other country but our own support OUR President? Some logic never ceases to amaze me. As far as his Nobel Peace Prize win…I have no comment and the jury is still out on that which really doesn’t matter either way because he won it and WHO is going to take it away?

“Brenda W, I came with all sincerity from my heart with an apology you choose to go with the winning side thats cool.” —VOS

Wow. I’m sorry you feel ganged up on, V. There are no winners or losers here. We are just voicing our opinions. I guess I missed whatever happened between you and Rance. But remember, I was the first to respectfully disagree with you on the AJ topic. And I have disagreed with others here, including Rance. But that hasn’t made us enemies. I admire your passion, but there is a way to express that without tearing down other people. That’s all I was trying to say. God’s Peace and Wisdom be with you, sister.

Peace!

President Obama has done an excellent job promoting goodwill and peace among other countries. He is very deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. President Obama has attempted to undue the damage that former President Bush has allowed throughout his presidency. Positive international relations between the United States and other countries are paramount to our national security.

OK. I heard my name being spoken so now I must respond ( AP and Rance).

Obama should not have taken this award. He knew he didn’t deserve it. This award has been a joke for a long time. It was given to Yassar Arafat one time. Wanting peace and causing war are two different things. His change in foreign policy with Israel has the Mideast on the brink.
Not to mention Iran and North Korea seeing his weakness. They are gearing up even faster. Heck, anyone can wish and talk for peace. I do that everyday. Where is my Nobel prize?

I truly believe that the people in Oslo want to sway us away from Afghanistan. How can Obama win the Nobel peace prize but then send 40,000 troops to Afghanistan? Quite a hard decision. That’s why he should have denied this award. Plus, the candidates he was competing against were true die hards. Some have been in prison for years oppressed by their governments. Those are the true peace keepers.

Obama needs to get this economy in gear instead of trying to crash it. Anyone paying attention knows you must create incentives for businessess to create jobs. Not offer them higher taxes and an expensive public health insurance plan. As Steve Wynn, a new hero, said yesterday, jobs should come first. Thank goodness Obama didn’t win the Nobel prize for Economics. That would have really been a travesty.
Unemployment grows and grows but Obama is sidetracked with other ventures.

I missed out on a lot. I got lost reading some of the “drama” that has been posted on this page.

President Obama do deserve the recognition that he recieved- done fair and well. He is greatly to be honored for his leadership at still giving hope for the future of this Nation.

Obama recieving the Noble Peace Prize award should not have any affect on his rating approval of his policies. Haters just have to get over it period. It’s not like the President was in competition to win favor from another nation it just work out to be on his side. They saw some great things in “Obama” that his own just shut a blind eye to accept as the truth.

Congrats to President Obama!

I don’t think any of you believe this at all. How can you? No offense but lots of leaders give hope for the future. Lots of people talk about peace. No one is hating on the President. Look at the facts. He’s done absolutely nothing to increase the peace. If anything the middle east is closer to war and the crazies overseas closer to the nuclear weapons. Through strength is peace. Obama has shown no strenght at all.

Again, as I said before, look at the people who were also in the running. There is a big difference and I believe Obama should be embarrassed for accepting this.

Berry Hudson,

Why not contact the NPP Committee with your questions? Their info is in the link I provided within the past few days. Actually, their decisions are binding and non-revokable. They also do not discuss the particulars that you seek for FIFTY years. But, as I said, if you are insistent upon having your curiosity sated, I would address all questions, concerns and indignation to them.

Thanks and have a wonderful rest of the week.

AP

Brenda W.,

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words. I feel blessed to have found this blog and to be able to engage with serious thinkers who both challenge and inspire me!

AP

Larry,

I wasn’t “calling your name,” I was simply wondering where you were. I already knew your POV, I was just waiting for you to post it! lol As I said before, I admire your consistency.

Obama should be embarrassed to accept it? Truly hating the player and not the game.

AP

But AP,

Yes, he should be embarrassed.

The player is our President. That’s the problem. I don’t want a player. I want a leader. This guy should be looking out for the American people to the best of his abilities. Its just not happening.

By the way, all you guys may want to check into the falling dollar and having the dollar replaced as the currency for oil.

Larry, I don’t think the President should be embarrassed. The award was given to him. He has no control over that.

However, I think he should not accept. I was listening to WH Communication Director over the weekend and she stated that the Obama was surprised being award the Nobel Peace Prize. She also said that the President felt he did deserve the award.

If Obama felt he is undeserving of the award, the honorable thing for him to do is to not accept it.

Larry,

You completely took my words out of context, spun them to suit your meaning and … aw, hell…. you know what you did.

I know, I know Obama can do little to no right (no pun intended).

What’s embarrassing in this case is that the people who can’t manage to find anything positive )or even neutral) about this award, don’t have the civility to simply say “congratulations” and then move on. Sen. McCain gave the perfect example. Is it really difficult to be gracious? For some, it seems that it is.

Also, I hope that people who say he shouldn’t accept realize that he has already accepted.

Anyway, Happy Tuesday everybody!

AP

American Patriot the questions at hand is does President Obama deserve this award. In my mind no because he has down nothing to earn it.

Also as I stated the Nobel prize nominations started even before he was elect President. How is it you can win an award that you were not in office for?

Plus he campaigned on ending the war in Iraq. Right now he is in the process of escalating the war with Afghanistan. That’s not peace.

Also the article states 3 other presidents have won this award. They have well documented accomplishments. Our President has not earned this award. If anyone thinks so please tell me what has Obama done to earn the Nobel Prize?

Berry Hudson,

You don’t have to be President to win the award. He needn’t be in office to be considered, etc… As I said, the particulars will become available to you in FIFTY years, so just wait patiently and all your inquiries will, eventually, be answered.

But, you know, go forth with the gnashing of teeth. I understand it’s difficult for some to just be gracious and civil, a la John McCain.

It’s amusing that you think he shouldn’t have won because he IS escalating in Afghanistan and Larry thinks he shouldn’t have won because he’s not escalating ENOUGH.

The man could walk on water and some would say, “Yeah, but can he swim?”

Your lack of an answer is all the answer I need.

Let me quote your article, since no one has a response to my query

“Even the most seasoned Nobel watchers were surprised by Obama’s Nobel — they hadn’t expected the U.S. president, who took office barely two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline, to be seriously considered until at least next year.”

Two weeks?

BH,

The dangers of truncation should be obvious; however, since you’ve proven not to know the lesson, I’ve cut/paste the parts of the article that actually emanate FROM THE COMMITTEE.

Also, since you have “all the answer you need,” perhaps you’ll find some OTHER issue about which to argue circularly, aimlessly and pointlessly. However, for some reason, I doubt it. Your dogged pursuit for … THE ANSWER … is approaching comedy. Thanks for that.

Read on:

————————–

In a rare public defense of a process normally shrouded in secrecy, four of the Nobel jury’s five judges spoke out Tuesday about a selection they said was both merited and unanimous.

To those who say a Nobel is too much too soon in Obama’s young presidency, “We simply disagree … He got the prize for what he has done,” committee chairman Thorbjorn Jagland told The Associated Press by telephone from Strasbourg, France, where he was attending meetings of the Council of Europe.

Jagland singled out Obama’s efforts to heal the divide between the West and the Muslim world and scale down a Bush-era proposal for an anti-missile shield in Europe.

“All these things have contributed to — I wouldn’t say a safer world — but a world with less tension,” he said.

“I take note of it. My response is only the judgment of the committee, which was unanimous,” Jagland said.

In announcing the award Friday, the committee, whose members are appointed by the Norwegian Parliament, applauded the change in global mood brought by Obama’s calls for peace and cooperation. They also praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms, ease U.S. conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthen the U.S. role in combating climate change.

President Obama has already declared that he’ll accept the award, and I don’t believe he would have made the announcement if his mind weren’t made up. It’s pretty much a moot point to argue now, that he should refuse it

Here’s the thing Larry and Berry: he can’t please you. There is NOTHING he can do – short of resigning from the presidency – that would satisfy you. Fortunately, I don’t see that happening either.

If you guys continue dissecting his every word and examining every twitch of his nose until the end of his first term, you guys will be as gray as he’ll be.

Rance,

They still wouldn’t be happy if the President resigned. It would prove to them that he was never right for the job, that he was under-qualified, that he was a flip-flopper, that he put his needs above those of his citizens, that he took the money and ran … oh, wait… that’s S. Palin! :) )

LOL!!

AP

hahaha!! You’re right, AP. Maybe they convene every morning at the CCC (Conservatives Center for Controversy) and map out their “war” strategy.

Well,

You guys are hilarious. Let me just say this: Obama is not fooling anyone. He misdirects , misleads and straight out lies. The health care thing about competition and choice is just ONE example. We now know, most of us have known all along, that this was false however he kept telling the same lie. What bravado. His whole presidency is about the redistribution of wealth. Taxing corporations and the wealthy more so that those who do not have can have more. The unions like UAW now have better health benefits than those in congress. Unions now own a portion of GM and Chrysler. This was part of the redistribution plan. I find that chilling since we live in a capitalistic society.

The message this man has sent out is that he wants to live in a globalized society where one central world body, like the UN, actually gives orders to the WH and other nations. This is why he has downplayed the good things the US has done and made us villians to our counterparts overseas. I myself find this appalling. However, I know in 2010 he will be a lame duck and voted out of office in 2012 when he loses the election. Thus, the rush job to get everything passed within a year.

I truly believe he will have quite bit of fallout from his presidency which would of course hurt black people in the long run. But we are our own worst enemy with no one else to blame because we refused to see the truth because we were to busy looking at his black skin.

Peace.

Larry,

Thanks for chiming in. As I said, your consistency never disappoints. Also, one million thanks for NOT bringing up ACORN again! :)

Wednesday’s coming!

AP

PS. Where were you those few days? It was a “hot topic” and I was surprised ( and concerned) because you hadn’t posted. All okay in your world?

AP,

Thanks for asking. Yes everything is Ok. I was just taking a break. Funny, I was thinking about ACORN to. However, I will spare you the details. Hope all is well where you are.

Larry, you stopped short of calling it, ‘One World Order’. Are you laying the groundwork to begin calling him the anti-Christ?

Rance
I voted for Obama and as a Black man I am proud of the fact that he is my President and shares many of my views. As an American, a voter and a veteran I will hold my President to task no matter what we have in common.

President Obama himself said he did not deserve the honor and on that he and I agree.

Now when he ends these wars and stop the death of Americans and Iraqi’s and people from Afghanistan I will personally nominate him for the Nobel Peace prize. Until then I will hold him to his campaign promises.

I am proud of our President. I am praying for you President Obama.

Rance, I am saying a new world order. With the info I have been getting he has been secretly signing deals with China that lessens our sovereignty here in the US. Now I don’t have all the details but it will probably come out soon like all the other stuff has. We will just have to wait and see. A lot of stuff Obama does seems to be bad for us. I don’t find him very supportive of the American people and our interests.

I can remember on this site when we were arguing about the fact that the HC bill will insure illegal aliens and include abortion. A lot of people stated that this was false. Now we know better. Where there is smoke, look for fire. We all have now been put on notice. Time to wake up.

Now Anti-Christ? Look at the fact he stated we were not a Christian nation. Look at the fact that while making a speech at Notre Dame he had the symbol for Jesus covered. A lot of ministers do not like this man. I think that’s abnormal. I’ll let you guys make the call on that topic.

I’ve made my call, Larry. So has AP and a few others. You don’t accept it.

Berry, be patient. Every elected official should be held to task; but as I’ve said before, cleaning up a mess takes a whole lot longer than making one. These are very complicated issues and they can’t be fixed with the wave of a wand, or overnight.

Larry,

Obama believes that religious conservatives need to accept the fact that America has evolved and government policies need to encompass all faiths because the country is no longer just a Christian nation.

His complete quote:

“I think that the right might worry a bit more about the dangers of sectarianism. WHATEVER WE ONCE WERE, WE’RE NO LONGER JUST A CHRISTIAN NATION; WE ARE ALSO A JEWISH NATION, A MUSLIM NATION, A BUDDHIST NATION, A HINDU NATION, AND A NATION OF NONBELIEVERS. We should acknowledge this and realize that when we’re formulating policies from the state house to the Senate floor to the White House, WE’VE GOT TO WORK TO TRANSLATE OUR REASONING INTO VALUES THAT ARE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERY ONE OF OUR CITIZENS, NOT JUST MEMBERS OF OUR OWN FAITH COMMUNITY.”

http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/204016.aspx

The then-Senator Obama made the above statement to highlight the fact that liberals and conservatives, people of every faith, and people of no faith (ie. organized religion) would have to work together to help American live up to its potential and its promise.

Larry, your version is not only taken out of context, it was also misquoted to serve as illumination of your assertion that Obama is the “anti-Christ”! It’s abominable and pitiable. To see you misquote and truncate is straight out of the Karl Rove playbook. It cheapens every argument you attempt to make. It’s a shame because, although we disagree on probably 85% of what’s discussed here, I never pegged you as the type of person to take a truth and turn it into a complete fabrication, to manipulate a statement to fit your own purposes.

I expect better of you.

AP

PS. The cover-up to which you refer was at Georgetown, not Notre Dame. The request was made by the White House because had it not been covered the Catholic abbreviation for Jesus, “IHS,” would have been visible directly above Obama’s head. Imagine the uproar from the sayers-of-nay at what would have been perceived as the ultimate show of disrespect by the President. Cries from far and wide would have abounded decrying the fact that the maker was allowed to remain. Remember the uproar caused by his Denver décor.

The Right has set up a dichotomy whereby whatever the President does is wrong. It’s occasionally sad, but always entertaining.

I think this will give President Obama even more creditability.

i see that we have alot of haters who doesn’t want to appreciate that our president was nominiated before he was elected in office. noregwien committee selected president obama because all the racism coming out of the closet from right-wing groups and critics calling him hitler names yet using words like socialism which in reality means nigger or black. yep, he did take this job but our reputation overseas has changed due to his philosphical differences from bush who trained wrecked our citizens while using our military for revenge against huessin. president obama has many difficult choices to make when it comes to two wars waisting lives and costing taxpayer money for nothing. some people are saying that he doesn’t deserve it because he hasn’t accomplished anything-well to the haters-GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON BECAUSE WE ARE IN A NEW ERA AND I AM GLAD THE NOBEL PEACE COMMITTEE CHOSEN PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA FOR THE HIGHEST HONROR SINCE MARTIN LUTHER KING! if bush or mccain won the nobel peace prize, every left-wing and independents would be complaining all the time yet the right-wingers are complaining all the time and won’t accept the fact that he’s black and smart young man which they can’t stand at all! Peace!

I am a senior, and all my life I’ve been watching right-wingers use accusatory finger-pointing at Democrats and Independants accused of being “socialists” and “bleeding heart liberals” for refusing to play the conspiratorial AND Satanic mind games that COVER UP (“Make It Invisible”) THE SYSTEM OF MONOPOLY CORPORATE FASCISM controlling the Means of Production and Labor Productivity of the USA with the Unfair Methods of Competition that I call “The $ystem of AmeriKKKan Apartheid (“Brainwashing & Treason”) CHESS.

RE: How I think the Nobel Peace Prize award will affect President Obama’s ratings approval or his policies with respect to reform of ‘The $ystem’ of AmeriKKKan Apartheid Treason, including: 1) The Multinational Corporate Globalization-through-”Pre-emptive Strike” (neo-nazi) Warfare; and
2) The STEALTH GENOCIDE SEGREGATION perpetrated upon African American families of negro slave blood and descent that has been led from 1865-2009… by:
3) The KKK-ETHNIC CLEANSING perpetrated upon African American men (directly) through lynchings & anti-civil rights movement domestic terrorism, and (indirectly) through the “U. S. Justice System” legal lynchings); and
4) The levy of undeclared class warfare upon white American labor (as the brainwashed, divided and conquered by white supremacist hatred “Silent Majority” that threw off the shackles of mental slavery to vote for President Obama on 11/4/2008?
Well, in a nutshell, Mr. Martin / TVOne, I would say that there’s no place for America to go but up, since President Obama is the ONLY AMERICAN who has EVER beat AmeriKKKan Apartheid Mass Mind Control by refusing to respond to “Niggerization”, and without being assassinated or legally lynched. (So far…). Because this man is so brilliant he doesn’t even use speech notes, ever!! AND because he, First Lady Michelle and the little ladies are the WORLD’s Most Beautiful People!! [Please see the copy of our family’s “Lightning Fall Brief to the UN, USA & Movement (Part 1)” that I am sending you, for our further comments.]
P.S. God bless each and all of TV One’s managers, staff, programs, projects and initiatives, especially the politics-related ones. I’ve waited all my life to be thrilled by the works of dazzlingly beautiful creative African American art and entertainment that you produce!! BRAVO!! And your website is just wonderful.
