Roland Martin asks Congressman James Clyburn what he thinks about the rumor stating that President Obama has asked African American New York Governor David Paterson to step down.
On the premiere episode of Washington Watch, Roland Martin asks Vice President Joe Biden is President Obama really asked New York Governor David Paterson to step down.
In a few days, the world will witness history — as Roland Martin becomes the first weekly, cable news show to look at Washington through an African American lens. Premiering Sunday at 11am, Roland Martin becomes the host of Washington Watch on TV One. But just why is this show so important? Get the facts straight from Roland (and a few others) right here.
You have to love this guy — he’s the only person who can smooth over racial concerns with the truth but in a way that makes him seem unfazed by the issue. Last night on Letterman, President Obama and David Letterman discussed the most recent racial concerns that have been brewing over the healthcare debate. Last week, former President Jimmy Carter stated that ‘the poor decorum was because people were rooted in racism.’ President Obama dismissed those concerns with a simple response, “I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election.” What he’s saying is that, Americans voted a Black man into the office and the root of racism isn’t as strong today as in the past.
The President seems to be sticking to his racial guns, he acknowledged that it has existed but is only concerned about moving forward.
What do you think? Do you agree with how Pres. Obama is handling race matters? Tell us here.

Joker-facing is the Photoshop trend that morphs a person’s image to that of the Joker, a character seen in most Batman films. It has been used on former President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and now President Barack Obama. It was never a big-deal before but as Obama’s joker-face image emerges its leaving a few people feeling uncomfortable. Captioned with the term SOCIALISM, Obama’s joker-face has people wondering what the whole joker-face means anyway. Is it a political statement or a joke?
There’s a thin line of what’s funny in regards to Obama because as some have suggested, it could be interpreted as a modern blackface sambo.
So what do you think? Is there a fine line between what’s funny when it comes to President Obama because he’s Black or is he fair game like everyone else?
