ROLAND’S PERSPECTIVE: ARE BLACK REPUBLICANS “SELLOUTS?”
Roland read all your comments about his Michael Steele interview on last week’s show and now he’d like to say something IN DEFENSE of Steele and Black folks on the other side of the aisle.

TELL US: Why are Black republicans criticized so harshly in our community?
People like to use race because it is emotional and derails logical argument. We are not afraid anymore. I saw people throw oreo cookies at Steele when he ran for Lt. Govenor. I’ve seen the race card played since the primarys began and on to this day, every day. It doesn’t matter anymore because we are not scared.
I truly believe that Mr. Steele is a a very stupid man who wants to be liked by non-black people. How can you defend a group of people who do not need defending? How can you defend a group of people who are detached from their humanity?
They are using him, and his presence will not bring more blacks and other minorities into this party.
He would do better defending Hilter because he admitted that he was a racist and crazy?
Houston, Texas
Again, I believe that Black Republicians are criticized in our community because they are pretending that impediments do not exist in their laws, the application of law, in their institutions, and other aspects that prevent the balance of economic and political power.
How can they defend a group or a culture who is detached from their humanity and who practices greed?
Now more than ever before any African American who supports and promotes the current Republican agenda is worse than a sellout. In fact, why would anybody, regardless of ethnicity, support the current Republican agenda?
It’s interesting that once Barack Obama was elected president, Michael Steele became head of the RNP. I should be thankful that it wasn’t that fool, Alan Keyes, who had the Republicans move him from Maryland to Illinois to try and defeat Obama in the senate race. How stupid was he!!!!! I digress….I don’t see how Steele cannot see that the Republican party is using him.
In addition, I do think Jon Stewart was right….Hip Hop is not tuning into Perspective. They came out for Obama because of the efforts of people like Jamie Foxx, Usher, Jay-Z, etc., and after Obama was elected, very few have paid attention to him. They aren’t watching “Perspective” just like they aren’t watching “This Week in Washington” and all the other shows which deal with political issues.
I believe Mr. Steele is doing what he is paid to do. He is like a salesmans that is hired by a owner in a community that the owner does not have a vested interest in. The business owner is only interested in what he can get from the community and not have to return anything. He’s a face for a party that has never had the black communities interest in mind and the state of affairs in education, prisons, and economic disparity in this supposedly the greatest nation tells the whole story. Republicans present the interest of the wealthy which there are not many black folk and making sure the white populations interest is not compromised of those who are not wealthy, our laws and rules tell us this with clarity. Lastly about Mr. Steele Malcom X ask the question how do make a house negro? You give him a good job, pay him well, dress him well, and make sure he represents the masters interest at all cost especially when it comes to deceiving your people.
Black republicans are not criticized harshly. On the other hand, Black sellouts are criticed for being hypocrites like many Republicans. Sellout Blacks like many Republicans and some Democrats will say and do whatever it takes to advance their position of wealth and power at the expense of their publically proclaimed “values” and anyone who they think does not have an immediate benefit to them, i.e. innocent and defenseless citizens. They take a competitive “us-against-them” mentality and choose sides as opposed to a collaborative approach to solving the nation’s and the community’s problems. To close, sellouts suck and should burn in their hypocritical hell.
my grandmother had
a saying”if the klan let blacks in it there would be a black klansman”.lets be real they jump off the ship for much less for black america!bush did everything but burn america down and they defend him without a second thought!stats man !what have the gop done for black america!tell the gop to tell black reporters who are the racists and those who get government grants that never had a black board member!then i’ll trust the gop!get the interview that malcolm x talked about the uncletom!be real research facts and show that for 40 years the gop competes with blacks not help!
Please, what kind of question is this? What is a sellout?
I am willing to bet that if you could come up with a valid definition, TONS of BLACK ELITE Democrats would qualify as sellouts. So, singling out Republicans as though BEING black is some exclusive monolithic group does a complete and total disservice to the disenfranchised in the black community.
If you think Democrats care, then I challenge you to explain the virtual stagnant graduation rates of our black youth. If you think Democrats care, then why has this country chosen imprisonment of black men and women as THE remedy to the social ills facing our community?
ALL BLACK Democrats who do occupy, and have occupied Washington DC for over 40 years are sellouts. Besides, both ideologies, Liberal and Conservative, lead the blind into a ditch, and neither side has a clue as to what the disenfranchised need.
I think Black republican are very much so sell-outs,if i was them i would’nt turn my back.
Democrats are responsible for the 50% high school dropout rate among black people?
I didn’t know that.
And they are responsible for the murders, dope dealing, car jackings, rapes, child murders, domestic violence committed by some black people who are then sent to jail? Where they belong, btw.
Boy, I learn something every day.
Who woudda thunk?
Roland took the time to make this video in defense of Steele and black republicans.
Is this the best he can do?
All of that education and this is the best he can do?
He obviously has no problems with the vitrol that comes out of the mouths of the black republicans who jig on white teevee shows against the President.
Birds of a feather, and all of that.
Roland, I disagree with you on the idea that we(black community) critcise black republicans simply because they are black and republican. I do not criticize Steele because he’s a republican, I criticize him because I disagree with his idiotic and nonsensical statements and views. He, like many of his republican counterparts, is an obstructionist of reform and change. His position is one of, opposition to any and every idea of the current administration and majortity leadership no matter how important or beneficial it may be. He’s a teabagger, a birther and a deather.
I subscribe to the notion that we(blacks) should not put all our eggs in one(democratic)basket, and that it is a good thing that we are; democrats, republicans and independents. BUT!…I believe that we need not conform to ideologies that denograte and exclude us as a people (as our so-called friend M. Steele has) once we are involved in which ever party we choose.
I’ve listened to Steele for many years now. I’ve never heard him mention any legislation or any idea that remotely resembled anything of interest to me. Quite the contrary in fact, his viewpoints are almost always in opposition to mine. Now tell me again why I should be listening to him or supporting him because it has surely gone waaay over my head.
I have read your statements above and I find them very strange. You truly do not understand the Republican party and have no idea what you talk of. Not one of you have given any concrete examples as to why blacks should dislike the Republican Party. Instead you tow the old stereotypical black line about sellouts and uncle Toms. Pitiful. I will say that some of you do try and stay somewhat neutral and see both sides.
93% of all voting blacks vote Democratic. That’s ridiculous. Blacks vote Democratic and have nothing to show for it. Republicans sense of free speech, free enterprise, free markets, smaller taxes, less govt. and less govt. spending is what the black community needs from an economic standpoint. Instead you would rather have a party that promises you the world and delivers nothing all just to get your vote. How easy and predictable we are.
Seriously, if we as a people were really serious about investment, stimulus and growth then maybe you would re examine your comments. From what I read above no one has that on their mind.
Even and I say even the NAACP had to reach out to Obama today and plead with him to start trying to create jobs. They are about 6 months late but they held off as long as they could. Yet most of you above talk about Republican sellouts when your Democratic party is trying to bury you with health care and cap and trade legislation. What about the economy folks? Do you all have jobs? How does hc and cap and trade affect you? Blacks need to change their way of thought and really think about embracing the Republican party. Start thinking about what can the Republican party do for you instead of instantly turning up your nose. Then maybe blacks will finally become a real political force in this country.
It is not for republicans to change, black people have to change their worldview. that first comes through repentance to Christ. some might say that we have that with our mega preachers. they teach false doctrineand god is nowhere in that mess. until black folks come to a true saving knowledge of Christ, there will be no real change of our condition. it must start with the heart of man being changed. so with regards to the question about black republicans being sell-out no, it is black america that has been the sell out?
