Seems like that’s over.
Yesterday, President Obama sat down with Fox News White House correspondent Major Garrett to talk about all sorts of things from bail-outs to Korea. Watch the clips below.
TELL US: Do you think FOX can still complain that the Obama administration is treating them unfairly now that the president has gone on their air?
Im glad that he went on Fox news even though its not going to stop them from reporting false news reports that constantly slander him and anyone else from the democratic party, it was still a good gesture, Obama has class and a good PR agent!

Obama not going on FOX News wasn’t hurting the network. It makes FOX stronger. I guess the administration has come to it senses. The network with the biggest audience and the president of ALL AMERICAN — black, white, biracial, democrats, republicans, independents, rich, poor refusing to appearing on a news network because he feels the network highlights more of his negatives.

It is about time he did an interview with Fox. If he is President and if what he says is true then no need for him to hide. I hope Bret Bauer asks him questions we already know the answer to. For example, why is he raising taxes and increasing govt. spending during a resession? A first year economics student knows better than that. We already know the answer but it will be interesting to hear what he would say.
I always thought he ran from Fox, during the election, and only when Hilliary out flanked him (for a moment)did he go.

If this HC passes the taxes and charges etc will start right away. The actual start of the plan, the benefits and care etc., will not start until 2013. Our country is in a bad economic downturn right now. How many of us can take more taxes and charges? If these taxes etc hit our companies now, how many more people will they lay off? Its hard enough keeping a job. Call your Senators and tell them not to pass this HC bill. It will cost well over 2 trillion dollars. The CBO is using funny math by not counting 2009 to 2013 taxes and charges. Tell your senators lets work on HC when we stabilize the economy and reverse unemployment trend. This is imperative. If you are barely hanging on to a job now I suggest you take this seriously. CALL YOUR SENATORS.

For the second time in just over a week, Fox News is coming under fire for misusing old news footage. The latest flap is leading some people to charge that the cable news network is intentionally misleading its audience, while Fox claims a “production error.”
Wednesday’s incident occurred when Fox News host Gregg Jarrett mentioned that a Sarah Palin appearance and book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan had a massive turnout. As footage rolled of a smiling and waving Palin amidst a throng of fans, Jarrett noted that the former Republican vice-presidential candidate is “continuing to draw huge crowds while she’s promoting her brand-new book,” adding that the images being shown were “some of the pictures just coming in to us…. The lines earlier had formed this morning.”
However, the video used in the segment was from a 2008 McCain/Palin campaign rally. In response to the minor uproar that arose after clips of Jarrett’s report hit the Internet, Fox senior vice-president of news Michael Clemente issued an initial statement saying, “This was a production error in which the copy editor changed a script and didn’t alert the control room to update the video.”

What your point AP? Just recently CNN on the Campbell Brown Show used Fox’s video calling it CNN exclusive. She later made a backtrack crediting FOX NEWS.

AP, Have you every worked in Broadcast TV business? If you do, you would not for a minute infer that this was deliberate on the part of Jarrett. Last minute changes to scripts can sometime lead to incorrect video linkage.
I have seen anchors using language not intended for live television being broadcast because they think their microphone was off.
I can give a myriad of examples of embarrassing bloopers that I personally witnessed. Unfortunately, even me made some on air blunders.

Yes, I have worked in both print and broadcast journalism. I made no reference to Jarrett, nor was my response in relation to CNN. Had the topic been about CNN, a comment about them would have been appropriate.

Why the double standard, Larry? If this had been any other news outlet inflating the crowd at an event for President Obama, you would have been all over it, accusing them of “being in the tank for Obama”.
Since you believe no medium other than the FOX network and the Wall Street Journal, your resources for verifying information are very limited. Don’t you remember your teachers instucting you to gather information from various sources for your reports? You can’t gain complete and accurate information by gleaning all of your news from a network and publication that are affiliated.

Ervin’s point that all media is biased was the most ‘fair and balanced’ statement found in these responses. His examples, however,, are in response to the request that FOX errors be presented.

I knew you were going to get around to blaming the current administration for the recommendations of this INDEPENDENT panel of medical experts, one of whom is the Chief Medical Officer for the American Cancer Society. Keep in mind that this controversy is not a new, and the panel’s function is to advise the U.S. Department of Health…not set policy. Women will still have to make personal decisions for whether we wish to follow the panel’s recommendations. Although it’s mandatory that insurers cover mammograms as preventive care, my concern is that they’ll attempt to challenge the mandate based upon these recommendations, so that they won’t have to pay for annual screenings.
Well Rance that’s the point. Do you agree with women getting mammograms starting at 50? Basically, the govt. HC plan will probably only cover it starting at 50. Its called rationing. This is only the start of what is to come. I just don’t believe in coincidence Rance. What timing for this thing to come out.
Its not mandatory that insurance companies cover anything. If they want to compete and stay in business then the competition drives their services.

I have been at this for awhile. I consider a true American who is willing to fight for what is right for this country. Now what is right is sujective I know. Rance and AP are basically throw out “stuff” hoping that they stick. Their arguments lack supporting evidences. They can see nothing wrong with this administration. From time to time you are not afraid to point out some of the negatives of the Republican Party but Rance and AP cannot bring themselves to admit that the Obama administration:
1. Has ballooned the national debt by $2 trillion in lest than one year.
2. The HC bill if pass, will further erode our economy
3. Democrats, 39 in the HOR opposed the House Bill. we await the Senate.
4. Independents are leaving in drove.
5. Obama is a puppet of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid,
6. Willing to appease “radicalism” under the disguise of national security.
7. Have no problem in taking taxpayers money, millions, to defend those who conspired and execute thousand of American.
8. If KSM and his cohorts were not Muslims, would Obama give then such high profile to further ridicule the American people.
9. No jury in American would ever vote for an acquittal, so what is the point of affording them a federal trial, costing millions but for a show case for Muslims.
10. Obama is more about image, how the rest of the world sees him especially the Muslim world.

This country is on the brink of some very dangerous stuff from terrorrism to financial bankruptcy all being spearheaded by this president. If that comment is your standard for not watching Fox news then I hope you think otherwise. Obama is intentionally doing things that hurt this country. An example: raising taxes and massive govt. spending in a ressession. Its been proven that it was the wrong strategy during the depression and does nothing to spur economic growth. What small business or corporation would hire more people when they know more money is coming out of their pocket and business is already bad. These are the types of things we as blacks really need to be looking at. The baby’s momma thing we can let go. We all need jobs. That’s always been a problem for the brother.

That being said my question to you is this….For repubs,GOP,conservatives, other than being bastions of contention what solutions are they offering. They have given their health care options many times. I have repeated some of them on this site. Their health care plan is 250 pages long. To sum it up they believe in market forces to change health care not government. Two options are to allow small businesses to have their own risk pool so that they can make health care cheaper for small businesses and another is to open up state borders so people and companies can shop with the over 1300 different providers that are available nationwide. Competition lowers prices not government. We have already seen from the CBO that private insurance premiums will not be cheaper with this HC bill. That’s by design as Obama wants a single payer system.
There are other options they have suggested but nothing as huge as what the Dems have come up with. Under the Dems plan it won’t even cover all of the uninsured until some years later. I am not sure how anyone would allow the Federal govt. to eventually insure 330 million peole. That’s a disaster. They couldn’t even run Cash for Clunkers without a hitch.
I would also say that Repubs believe in treating terrorists like terrorists and not giving them the key to the city as Obama is doing. I think you would also see republicans trying to give businesses incentives to create jobs like tax cuts or credits. Smaller spending from govt. also. Obama of course , hasn’t given any businesses any incentives. In fact,last week Obama said he would think about tax incentives. Very good Obama. While he is steady trying to redistribute the wealth and flow of money in this country the unemployment picture worsens.
One other thing Jaydub. Keep watching both Liberal and Conservative sources. You will see which source gives you the most news even though it may not be news that is pleasing to your ears. You have to be informed in order to support or deny what you hear. Most Liberals have a hard time with us Fox listeners because when we say something they have usually never heard about before. The ACORN disaster is a prime example. It took the mainstream media 4 or 5 days to finally report the ACORN corruption and that’s because they were being shamed into finally doing it. That was big news since again, Obama has been by their side for years. Even representing them on a case in the mid 1990’s.

But, then again, someone’s who’s first statement is to tell Rance that she needs to wash, is someone who I will easily dismiss. Not because you said it about Rance; I’d feel the same if you said it about Larry, or Ervin or any of the posters here. Especially the long-term posters. If you are interested in more input you have the ability to do that. Call your reps and your Senators. Go to rallies like tea parties or town hall meetings. If it weren’t for these activities and the Blue Dog Dems then this hc would be history and we would be shaking our head in shame that we let this disaster go unchallenged. Jaydub, I don’t think discussions about politics is pointless. I mean the heat that Obama and the Dems have gotten from the public has actually changed their policies to a certain extent. If we don’t speak out and discuss this stuff these politicians will forget what the constitution says. As of now many feel Obama does not like the constitution and there have been rumors, in some circles, that he wants to change it or get rid of it altogether. In looking at his track record and his ties to Socialist entities I don’t doubt this at all.

I have watched Fox News. Some of their cable news shows appear biased. If they would maintain neutral in their disdain for President Obama and just report the substance of their facts, it would make a huge difference with independents and moderate democrats.
CNN gives the pros and cons of Obamanomics. It’s fair and even handed. No President is going to have absolute approval on every decison that he makes. I have watched Hannity, but I usually turn it off half way through his program.
As much as I disagree with their political views, I try to gleen some information that is important to me as a voter and citizen. I’m not thrilled with Bill O’Riley, but, I think he makes more of an effort to be fair and accurate in his reporting.
Kelly, all I have to say is if 50% 0f what Fox says is true we are in deep trouble. I happen to feel 90% is true and not just because they say it. We may not like some of the stuff we hear but we all should be asking ourselves how legit is it. I have checked my facts out with different sources. Everyone should do the same not just ignore them. Kelly, not to say you are ignoring them.

AP, I am assuming your are an intelligent person and can decipher a very simplistic point of view or comment. It is not my style through this medium to elucidate every point that I raised. This would be an exhaustive exercise for me, personally. I am always busy with more important tasks when I do post a comment etc.
While some users may enjoy the back and forth debate, I don’t. So, if my comments appear as “parsing,” it is deliberate.
Simple put, if I say the sky is blue — I don’t need to go into the reasons, the science, history etc.

“OT” means ‘off topic’. Yeah, it was an interesting word choice that you used and after I sat with it for a second, I thought, “yeah, that’s pretty cool.”
Also, still awaiting your response to my question about what you meant when you wrote “new world order.”
Mara, interesting response. I’m sure you are a busy person. Who in 2009 isn’t. Of course, you don’t need to explain the science of the sky being blue; however, there are time, when further clarification of one’s point is required, IF that person truly wishes to be understood, that is. To put it simply, my point was that your ‘approach’ is… interesting. I hope that was your take-away because that was my intent.
And, yes, I can – as can others – ‘decipher’ a simplistic POV or comment; however, and especially in this medium, “simplicity” can be … misconstrued as being simply…wrong. So, you’ll see many examples of people asking other’s what they meant by what they wrote. I’m “assuming you are an intelligent person” and realize that it’s better to ask, than to assume.

I don’t know a lot about the New World Order but from what I know and have heard its a scheme to have one global government. So our President would report to this central power. The UN has been after this for years. Of course, the UN is made up of a lot of countries that have less than us. It would simply then become a wealth distribution channel for those UN countries. Take from us to fill their need. I don’t think Obama would have a problem with this since his main focus is to redistribute the wealth and punish those who have attained a certain level of wealth in this country.
The HC and cap and trade schemes are exactly that: a way to redistribute wealth in this country.
