VIDEO: BLACK CAUCUS SLAMS OBAMA WHITE HOUSE
The Congressional Black Caucus called out the White House this week saying its financial reform plan doesn’t do enough for Black folks. Watch Joe Madison discuss how he sees the Obama administration’s view on race as one Black folks may not agree with.
TELL US: Do you think the Obama administration sees race the way most Black people do? Do you agree with Madison that we are NOT in a post-racial society? PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR CITY/STATE.

Joe is right! As much as I am praying for this administration, it seems as if they are ignoring the most important issue and that is (Jobs)! The President has to make this his top priority. If not then those who voted for him won’t come out to vote in the next election just like they did in this one – having the republicans governors winning. I think that blacks, and those who are unemployed should rally at the white house and let the President know that we are here and we are not going away until he takes swift action on this issue!
Yeah, President Obama should create a bazillion jobs just for black folks and ignore all of the other non-black unemployed Americans who voted for him. Or better yet, just send a check.
FYI: Black people did not elect the President. The American people elected the President. Black people, along with white people, Asian people, Jewish people, American Indian people, East Indian people, religious people, non-religious people, all sorts of people elected President Obama.
I am tired of black people who whine because the President is not standing on his head dancing a jig to please some black people. What are you doing?
Well, here is a clue. President Obama is NOT THE PRESIDENT OF BLACK PEOPLE. HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
LET ME REPEAT: President Obama is NOT THE PRESIDENT OF BLACK PEOPLE. HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
Here is another clue: Get up off of you hind ends and start doing for yourselves. You can’t be a brain surgeon with a burger joint education, or lack there of.
Can you speak english well enough that someone would want to hire you to represent his/her company? Do you have a high schood diploma and if not, WHY the h*** not. How many of you are another Desmond Hatchett?
What are you doing to make life better for you and your community, your children? Besides sitting around whining?
under 8 years of bush those same fake brother’s and sista’s didn’t make a noise!we have self hate that any man or woman that try will always have sellout blacks with a white glove making his or her stay hard!we have to walk on oil and egg shells!the black caucus has dropped the ball for the last 15to20 years!they make it easy to get over on black america!there the spooks at the door of our reparations!they will block our forward process in the red zone!no big changes at the end of the 20th century or beginning of the 21st and a decade has gone!now you say something when a blackman is the president!those who were in office the last 8years need to resign and let the youger sister and brotha’s do the work!!!!!!!!!!!!
President Obama is one man dealing with 100’s of racist white people, it is time for black people to start helping are own people we have the money their is a lot of rich black folks out their to help us but we don’t, other races whites mexicans and asians help their own people open up businesses and put them to work, why can we? stop begging and start helping
Sammy and Tenay
I could not agree with you more. At some point we must be accountable, and not always waiting for help. Help is fine, but there is so much that can be done for ourselves (as individuals) that it would limit the amount of help needed (if it all).
I agree. But you all must realize that’s the Democrats ace with black folks. Sit back and wait to be handed something. Dems have been playing that for years with black folks. Obama is doing it to. I say the best party for blacks is the Repub party. Yeah, they act like they don’t care but if we as a people start trying to utilize some of their principles, to help ourselves, we don’t need them to care.
But, black folks are so tuned in to voting Democratic we literally strip ourselves of any political power we might have.
Let me also add that the Black Caucus has a lot of nerve. Anyone paying attention prior to the election knew exactly what Obama was about. The Black Caucus was busy pouring the kool aid. Now they want to stop pouring the drink.
Any group of black folks that goes to Cuba and comes back stating how wonderful Castro is doesn’t deserve anyone’s support. With all the political prisoners in Cuba they should really be ashamed and we all should question their competence.
Our President needs to get the job done! It is going to take some time to do just that! We have had enough of the last 8 years of a president who did not care about the black folk. Yes MORE blacks got out and voted for this president. But You also need to remember what happened in the past elections, How bush got in the white house, the first time!
I just hope that this president is for ALL PEOPLE! and not for a certain few!
But I have learned how this president went to Yemen to help save Jews and bring them to this country to live up in this country!
My question is why are you not doing that for those in Africa who are caught in the war that has been going on for a long time!
This was a SECRET mission that took place about a month or so ago! I read in some money making news paper.
Why Mr. President! I know that he is a good person. But he need time to get it right! And I know he will!
He has Three years to get it right. I will vote for him again! I am PROUD TO SAY THAT I DID VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA!
I agree with the Black Eagle Joe Madison. Not only is President Obama not address the issues of black people in this country. He has gone back on all of his promises. I for one have had it with him and if he does not turn this thing around. I don’t who runs I will not vote for him. I have long since fallen out of love with the first “African American” he looks just like George bush to me.
Mr. Martin,
Our obsession with determining whether President Obama will address the “issues of Black people” is an exercise in futility if we never mobilize ourselves as an effective lobby to articulate clearly what those issues are and to provide specific ways in which we expect the administration to respond. As American citizens we are not fulfilling our civic obligation when we just vote and seat back and wait to be invited to speak. We don’t know how President Obama will respond until we press him on issues that concern us. He said clearly during the campaign that advocates like Martin Luther King would not be siding with him, but rather pressing him to respond to the needs of his constituents. He told us what to do, we just haven’t done it.
Placing people sympathetic to our interests in political office is but just one step in reaching a more just society. Having accomplished that by no means the work is done. To say that demonstrates an ignorance of how oppression works to maintain the status quo. True social justice, political and economic power does not culminate in electing a President. We have to take advantage of his presence by acting in support and against policies he develops. He plays his position and we play ours. Without citizen action democracy isn’t real. His election was not the END but rather a means to the end. The end is full economic, political and social justice for all people.
President Obama isn’t failing, we are with our silence and passivity. We also have to stop giving a pass to the other elected officials at the state and local level, including all Black Caucus members. President Obama can’t pass legislation our Congress, Assemblies, State Senates etc do that. They need to hear from us about how we want them to support or put pressure on the Obama Administration. They are the other leg of the stool that we keep ignoring.
President Obama has an opportunity to dismantle militaristic anti labor policies that have been put in place by Republicans and some Democrats, that have made life difficult for average people. It is up to us to become knowledgeable about these policies and help him get the job done. We have almost lost a year squabbling about whether to make demands, in the meantime other groups have prepared themselves to step up to the microphone.
We not only have the right to do the same but the obligation if we want our citizenship to mean anything.
Lynn,
As long as 93% of voting blacks vote Democratic nothing will change. Democrats won’t do any better than what they are doing now and neither will Obama. Not when he know he has the black vote in the bag. That’s how we have forfeited or political power.
President Obama cannot make white folks hire us, its up to these rich blacks folks that is on T.V playing like they give a damn to help, but they won’t white folks don’t care and the president can’t make them
Why would president obama fight for black people when they don’t even fight for their self, black people will be the first ones that will leave you standing alone
Larry you are a FOOL, I don’t care what party they don’t give a damn about us
Blacks folks got alot of mouth when its comes to black attacking black but will run and hide when it comes to whites
Why don’t you black folks go to a web site call boycottblackmen and get a back bone like she does.
Boycottblackmen. Wow, that’s a different spin.
See Tenay,
Your problem is you just want to be loved. I don’t care if Republicans love us or not. I just think blacks should use their principles. Once we set our principles in motion we don’t need approval from Repubs or Dems. It just so happens in order for us to digest some of what they are saying it would help if they were in the majority. How are you going to use their principles when we have a radical left government in place? Instead of calling people a fool I hope you get to the polls in November and do what you are suppose to do.
Larry, you are crazy i don’t want to be loved i don’t even want to be like, i want respect, but because of black folks like you that is weak we will every have respect get a back bone and stand for something beside your damn self
Larry, you are crazy i don’t want to be loved i don’t even want to be liked, i want respect, but because of black folks like you that is weak we will never have respect, get a back bone and stand for something beside your damn self.
The problem with African-Americans
is that they are not community
oriented. Instead of working in
and with the communty to solve our
problems, they like to sit back and
let others do the work. I am a community
organizer in a community of almost
50,000 people and the Black people in
the neighborhood are sleeping!! They
don’t even want to organize to have
a tenant association !! I am a volunteer
for Organizing For America (Obama’s
grassroots organization) and as I
petitioned for 3 City Council members
in my city this summer, people were
hesistant about organizing the neigh-
borhood. As they walked away from
me, I told them, “You asked for change,
prove it !!” So, until Black people
start working to change the neighborhood
in which they live, they will always
have this problem. WORK WITHIN YOUR
COMMUNITY, SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER AND
YOU WILL SEE CHANGE !! Also, if
people are not satisfied, let them
take that hot air of “fronting” and
contact whitehouse.gov !!
I totally concur with this assessment of the black culture. We have not learned how to inject cohesiveness within our culture. We constantly exemplify the crawfish mentality and that’s why we never reach our level of potential. What is needed the most is more respect and love toward one another.
When are we going to rid ourselves of a black way of thinking and began to think with intelligence, creativity, and power. Please don’t label the President and limit him to an isolated way of thinking, which is just what is good for black folks. He is the people’s President and he is not responsible to do for you what you should be doing for yourself. God has given you ability and faith, why don’t you use it? After all, you’re being held accountable for your choices, good, bad or indifferent, and they have consequences. So wake up black people and quit waiting for the President or anyone else to contribute to your irresponsibility, because that is down right trifling. Instead, let every tub sit on it’s own bottom and we can go as far as we desire for ourselves.
your so right ms malone. we as black people have to stop exploiting are own ignorance and boootlickin. we have to recognize our craftmanship and real leadership amongst ourselves because thats what make us strong, but we’ve been program to tear each other down and blame each other without holding ourselves accountable as far as our own issues are concern.( you don’t have to keep blaming each other just hold ourselves accountable for for whats really holding us back and make changes. if we can create a movement ( if we can unify ) then we can ask for the president’s support. but we can’t expect the president to address our issues if we can’t take responsibilitys for our own progression.
This is what I am saying. We need investment, free market, and the opportunity to create our wealth. These are Republican characteristics and why I say more blacks need to be Repubs. or at least practice more of their principles. Tenay seems to be stuck in a mode that will not benefit her or anyone of black persuasion. She exemplifies the problems in our community.
Our current president despises wealth and those people who have it. He is just now trying to get the economy jump started but we are coming up on an election year so now its time for him to rest the Socialist agenda and goat people into believing he is trying to solve our economic woes. People he is a Socialist. Socialists believe govt. controls wealth and property not the citizens. If you are looking for Obama to get us out of this mess forget it. He has no background for that. He is an attorney with no economic experience whatsover. He has never ran a business and has never met a payroll. Thus, his insistence on rampid govt. spending and taxing during a recession. That’s bad policy folks. So we are going to have to be our own economic leaders and start using our head instead of depending on someone who some of us consider to be the messiah.
When the NAACP and the Black Caucus have to beg him to start trying to give companies incentives to create jobs you know there is trouble. The facts are indisputable.
We as blacks keep voting for a party that promotes non action in your own personal welfare. The Dems believe in big government spending and programs designed to limit incentive to do better. This is why I have pushed the Repub agenda above. They have a reputation of not caring for minorities. That’s not it , its just that they believe people should be more responsible for their own welfare than the state should be. Give it some thought.
Most of us are more conservative than we realize.
Larry,
You’ve been theoretically hoodwinked by the likes of those hypocritical, religious republicans, notice I didn’t say Christian republicans. I too believe everyone should be accountable for their choices, and granted there are those in the black culture who haven’t come to that realization. Nevertheless, we’ve all been given ability and faith, therefore we all have a fighting chance to determine where and how far we desire to go in life. The republicans or the democrats don’t have control over your destiny unless you give it to them. It amazes me when people want to blame President Obama for all the ills and shortcomings in our society. He is not God he is just a man with a gigantic responsibility and is not receiving support from most of black america. I really shouldn’t be surprised because he was pre-judged before he even became President by most blacks. Had it not been for white america voting for him he would never have made it. Sad to say, but this is part of the reason we will not likely get out of the crawfish mentality that permeates the very fabric of our culture. God help us!
Mary. Obama is killing us. He is a Socialist. We live in a Capitalistic society. That is why we are as powerful as we are. A Socialist can’t bring back a capitalistic society. That’s why he hasn’t tried. He doesn’t believe in Capitalism. No one blames Obama for or problems in America but we do blame him for his effort not to fix it and his intentions not to. And if you believe Obama has made an honest attempt to fix the economy I am listening.
You have two choices when it comes to politics. Dems or Repubs. If you don’t want either then you’re on you own. If your on your own your nothing. No money no power no nothing. With the choices we have I take Repubs. The Republican principles free trade, free market, choice, free speech and personal responsibility is what I like. Now Repubclicans don’t own those things so if I practice it it doesn’t make me a lifelong Repub. No one has been hoodwinked. This is a brother that uses logic instead of emotion.
Not all Republicans are the Evangelical right Mary. If that’s the picture you have of them then its not correct.
obama adminstration does not see race like black america and probably never will. i must say that blacks will be worse off under obama than bush. so much for the change the black symph was promising.
Thank you Sam for your comment.

President Barack Obama cares more about protecting the rights of illegal immigrants, terrorists, and/or his own self efficacy than honoring his sworn oath of office to serve all U.S. citizens, U.S. born Black people being inclusive.
President cannot win in this society. Why don’t we as black people stop expecting pity from other blacks and start going after what we want. President Obama shouldn’t have to deal with blacks whining about stupid stuff like this when he has to watch his back with both the dem and repubs because after all….he is still a black man and a majority of them just are not ready for a black president. Give him some support and let’s also support ourselves by stopping the ignorance and sense of entitlement. Typical of us and the crawdad in a barrel syndrome.
