Obama needs a reality check. In fact, his priority is not the economy. Its his Socialist agenda. Don't laugh. Its real.
He doesn't want America to recover. The worse off we are the more we have to rely on govt. That's the plan folks. Bank on it.

Roland Martin, why don't you stop pontificating and try offering something constructive.

You and some of the posters here may not be worried about the availability of health care but millions are, many of them black people.

What, are you practicing your shtick for your next gig on the white racist teevee shows?

President Obama inherited MANY major problems, the cure can not come over night. He, President Obama want to start with health care, let him. If people have a decent job then people need health care.

Many years ago, people were on t.v. in commericals saying, buy U.S.A. Why? Many people worked for nike and other toy companies. Many people paid little attention to that advertisement. It is true lets buy U.S.A. only this Christmas season. Why? We need to put our money were our mouth is. This is something we could do to help the president and help ourselves. Let us get together bring back the old t.v. commericals and start today. The toy, shoes, clothing factories will see we mean business. People laughed when the commericals would come on t.v. If we have to buy something overseas lets pick the place.

We can not keep blaming everything on President Obama. He is a man, who tries his best, but yet people continue to criticize. What would we do if it was a white republican president, nothing, he would not be within our reach.

Roland, Obama needs to leave health care alone becasue it is going nowhere. America is not concern about that but about jobs. He is out of his mind and needs a serious reality check. Unemployment will go up for November & DEcember as well as into 2010. The commerical real estate market will fall big time and he can't blame Bush for that. Obama does not know how to take full responsbility like a real man so it no wonder we have chaos in the white house.

Look, President Obama inherited this problem which just didn't happen over night! My God give him a chance please. We need health care, and we it badly!. I know jobs are important, but so is a human being health.
You are blaming the President for not having jobs, but what a local government?
what are they doing to help create jobs? We need to stop relying on the government for every thing! Let our state or local government get in the act of helping also.

ladies and gentleman this economic mess that this administration is trying to deal with is worst than anything we can ever imagine we need to keep our support of this administration at the high hope level, it's not being realistic to think these problems are going away tomorrow, and pumping money into the problem without regulating how those those funds were to be used. I once said until the way the business model in the U.S. changes some of the way it operates this entity, we are going to be on brink of economic failure. there are plenty of jobs out here but companies are finding more and more ways to push you out more and more rediculous hiring practices, it's going to take awhile for the stimulus money to do it's thing but the government can't give a pass to corporate america. there's some real funny stuff out here. get this all these politicians that are against health care reform are basically people that people elected that don't want you to have the same opportunity for health care that they have unbelievable.

I agree that the Obama Administration and the Democrats will own the current unemployment problem due to the economic crisis, but there are two factors to consider. One is that the Republican Party was determined to undermine the stimulus package by demanding more tax cuts (which is a temporary and artificial measure that actually increases deficits) and less emphasis on job creation and training; and secondly, the role that major banks and investment firms play as they have brought small business lending to a standstill that is stifling any attempts of entrepreneurs and prospective new business owners from getting much needed capital. The banks are flush with capital and are using funds to buy assets, but they’re not investing in the nation, their making themselves more profitable and even benefitting (CIT bankruptcy) out of the deals.
We can’t return to a consumer credit/housing market driven economy for long-term survival and viability; we need to regain our status as a manufacturing force in the world economy. In the short-term, we need capital to flow to responsible borrowers and companies so that they may build the industries and companies that will power our economy and right now, we’re not seeing this. Green jobs are another element that isn’t being taken seriously economically; it will help not only inner-city, but rural and suburban areas as well. The only option for President Obama to exercise in terms of the economy would be a massive public works and green energy project, but with factions of the country freaking out at the mere mention of government spending - even if it addresses the problems that lie at the heart of many concerns - baffles me to no end. We have to get the economy back on track first and concentrate on the deficit later, but you can’t do both right now.

@Maurice: 10.2% is a HUGE number, and it is not more important to focus on the 89.8%. Our problems are much more intricate than spending more money. The economy has suffered because too many manufacturing jobs have left the country. When corporations decide to send jobs overseas, they are putting Americans out of work. So even if you spend more, if you are not supporting companies who create their goods and services nationally, you are doing nothing to increase the workforce. The exodus of manufacturing jobs paved the way for the exodus of customer service jobs. Call any 800 help line, odds are that you will talking to a foreign representative of a national company. We have created middle classes in many Asian nations through customer service, and many more through manufacturing.

The biggest excuse for corporate relocation has been overhead, with benefits being the lion's share of benefits costs. In fixing the broken healthcare system, you are stripping away the easy answer for proponents of relocation. From there, addressing the import/export imbalance becomes the next phase of job creation.

Finally, the ability of companies to benefit from tax dollars, while at the same time penalizing the taxpayers has to be addressed. Whether healthcare or Wall Street, making money from others, without CREATING anything tangible has to be considered as the core problem of the new American economy.

Stop giving the unemployment rate numbers unless your going to break it down into the facts. Such as how many of those people left the work force by choice? How many are on workman's comp? How many lost the job because of poor performance? How many lost the job because of the companies own decision to down size? Employers take money out of people's pay check for unemployment insurance, so the fact that they do this must mean they know there is the possibility of it happening. The other thing that concerns me is that if there is 10.2% unemployed, what does that mean the other 89.8 people are doing? If the weather man said there was a 10.2% chance of rain, do you see people running around scrambling to get their umbrellas? probably not because that wouldn't be considered a high probability that it was going to rain. So, yes, it is unfortunate that anyone that wants a job is not able to find one, but that only shows that either we are over populated, or our education system is not doing a good job of keeping up with technology and the types of jobs that the economy is producing. You can have several jobs, but if you don't have the people to fill them it does you no good. The unemployment situation came from the greed of companies who chose to do unethical things and now the consequences are being paid. And as all things, consequences don't just effect the ones who did the bad deed. Why is it Obama's job to create jobs. Why are people not demanding job creations from the bankers, the mortgage lenders, the home buyers, etc... that helped place all these people in the unemployment lines. Obama is working on a lot of issues. That's what makes him in my opinion a God scent. Just because you don't see it on the so called news shows and hear it out of the pundits mouths, it does not mean he's not working on it. Some people can walk and chew gum at the same time. Presidents have people that they can delegate things to, yes! delegate things to. The country has too many problems to just sit and wait for the President, whoever he may be, to deal with a situation. If you are so concerned about the job situation, instead of acting in fear, start spending money in the stores, buying cars, continue dining out, etc... These are the things that will create jobs and keep people employed. Money has to be circulated and if you keep holding on to every dollar eventually the money going around will dwindle and then you too may be a victim of the cycle. God is still in contol.
