Oh snap! Roland Martin calls right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh out for saying the Gallup poll is over counting Black folks in order to keep President Obama’s numbers high.
Now Roland is calling for Limbaugh to step into the ring and join him on the Washington Watch set for a REAL discussion on race.

Thank you Roland for your perspective about Limbaugh. I agree he has a fixation with Black people. If the polls are over sampling Black people — THEY DIDN’T POLL ME. I don’t believe he will meet you on your turf, because he won’t be able to control the interview. My take is he hates President Obama and he truly wants him to fail because he is truly a RACIST! He would probably tell you I have a lot of Black friends. LOL — If he happens to take you up on your offer — GET’EM ROLAND.
I have never been polled by Gallup nor has anyone that I know personally. So, I am not real sure what Black people are getting polled but I would like to meet them.
People like Limbaugh rarely stray too far away from the radicals who strokes his ego. On the rare occassion that I’ve seen him outside of his own show, he was needless to say, not his usual, hate moungering” self. He reigns supreme in his world of wingnuts where ignorance is bliss. I’ll literally eat my hat if limbaugh finds the courage to appear on your show, “the real limbaugh” that is. Not the character that he reserves for shows like Good Morning America. The real Rush. The one that tells us what he really thinks.

when President Obama was elected, we said things like, “He’s going to be blamed for everything” , “He’s walking into a big mess left by Bush”, “This mess is going to take a long time to get cleaned up”, etc. How dare we turn our backs on this President who is simply trying to do the best he can with what he has to work with.
We wanted him to be elected and now we are picking on him for everything he is doing or not doing quick enough. We must come to our senses, be realistic, and thank God we have him as our President. It’s funny how we ask the Lord for something and when we are blessed with our request, we tear it to shreds. Shame on us, Black America!
We should have our President’s back. It’s bad enough the white right is bashing him. Must we do the same just because we are so impatient? Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it WAS built. President Obama is going to be heralded as one of the greatest Presidents of all time. He wants to see people with jobs just as much as the people without jobs want to have jobs. He wants his people to have affordable and efficient healthcare. He doesn’t want to send men and women off to war. He wants to see people become economically sufficient. He wants equality for all. And you know this is true. Let’s pray for him as God uses him to reach God’s desired destination.
The election of Barack Obama was not in vain. If you believe in God’s providence, you know this is true.
The more we bash him, the more the white right will rejoice. In the words of Keith Olbermann, “For God’s sake, use your instinct to think!” Barack Obama is not out to hurt anyone but to try and help everyone. Even those who hate his guts.
By the way, Rush is a coward, and he will not appear on Washington Watch.

It’s about time a serious, intelligent journalist called Limbaugh out to answer the ‘racist’ comments he’s spewed over the years. Limbaugh, with his bold and bravado attitude should be able to defend his position that he’s NOT a racist, and be ready to debate his passionate position with Roland.

I don’t believe you castrating Rush Limbaugh is going to do anything for Black America! It may help your ratings but it will do nothing for the millions of young brothers out there ages 16-24 with no job or career opportunities. Those looking at 35-50% unemployment levels and getting worse. You debating Rush with or without a panel will do nothing for these poor young men who are clearly by products of black America’s “blame whitey” culture. How refreshing to hear a leader in the Black Media take umbrage with all the things Rush Limbaugh says and has said over the years that have truly offended me and most informed people of color. He will never show-up on your show – cowards never want to confront their fears head-on.
The fact that Rush is treated as a leader in the discourse of American politics is a shame. FOX and Limbaugh rallies the racists and cuddles the bigots but when it is convenient for them (read: white people having abortions) they act as if they are Holier than any other Christian group ever.
It’s sad and would be perversely funny were it not so dangerous.

Rush Limbaugh made vicious attacks against Mayor Dinkins of New York, Rev Sharpton (that incident turned out to be true against The Rev)& Maxine Waters, way back in 1990. He’s nothing new. Fox News, Glen Beck & S. Palin are the latest. Washington Week doesn’t need a full hour to bash a few Repubs & Pres. Obama. Some topics more suitable to A-A’s in their communities would be: Why are our communities almost uninhabitable? Why is there so much black on black crime & when it occurs why is the A-A community slow to react, and why our A-A children can’t read, the list is long. These topics must be addressed, itemized & seen to & eliminated. or is it like Mayor Villariegosa says in LA,CA Gangs will never be irradicated. (a most dreary analysis) & I add is that true for A-A problems? After all many people benefit from the status quo.

Personally, I think Rush has some valid points. But I think it would be best if we concentrate on how we help our community rather than spend time debating with Rush. To be honest we need to be open with some of the things he says and if you disagree fine, but make sure you give a valid reason for disagreeing. That’s where we fail. We want to use emotion instead of logic. In other words we get so inflamed with what Rush says ( emotion) we never give a valid reason as to why he was wrong ( logic). Once we start doing that we all will start seeing the light and then engaging each other to think farther than just race and race baiting tactics.
I listen to Rush when I can. Once you get passed the emotion and get to the logic you start to understand his message.

Emotion often clouds the issue. I sometimes listen to rush, but not often, and i never take it personal, because I don’t care what he says. It has no effect on me what so ever. Sometimes he is way off base, and other times he is not. Plus Ive heard Black folks say much worse about Black folk, than rush.
Race baiting tactics. Yes! Some folks have simply turned race, social justice etc., into a business, were they gain fame and (sometimes) fortune off of black folks racial sensitivity.

I know that Rush is a bigot, he preaches hate and has learned how to make a lot of money at it. He hates any body that disagree with him. I am in Colorado Springs, and hate that the only talk radio we can get locally is Rush, Glen Beck, Hannity, and Holmes. I rather listen to sports any day.
