VIDEO: ROLAND SAYS OBAMA NEEDS TO KICK WALL STREET “ASS”
Roland talks directly to President Obama to say that he needs to get a little “George W. Bush” on Wall Street and the banks who have gotten, and done nothing with, all the bail out money.
TELL US: Do you agree with Roland? What should Pres. Obama do about the banks?
This text will be replaced
Please keep setting a fire unnder the president to keep him on point for all the people not just the corporations of all stripes.
Roland, why is your show not done in real time? It’s my understanding that your show is taped on Fridays.By the time your show comes on Sunday, the current topic, for example, Sunday you talked about the senate health care debate and the need to get that 60th vote. Well, the senate vote
came in that Saturday afternoon. It was old news. All the Sunday Morning political shows are done live. Why can’t you/tvone do the same?
Because it’s cost prohibitive to do a live show right now. It costs a on of money, and TV One hasn’t reached that level yet.
ROLAND – that is the point. More money means more support from our community. TV ONE needs all the support from Black communities. This is our Cable Network and it is wonderful. I support all of your programing. We should support our PRESIDENT as well. We can only build our POWER BASE with support. We must learn this lesson or we will be on reservations like the AMERICAN INDIANS. THEY HAVE ALREADY LOCKED UP OUR MEN ON PRISON PLANTATIONS. What will it take for Blacks to wake up.
Bod Johnson took BET to top status. He was our first billionaire- before Oprah. He created the millionaire rappers of today. The people we complained about. Bob took Jiggling and three words and created an empire and millionaires. Bob should teach us all how to compete. He needs to be recognized for being a true CAPITALIST. TV ONE has to create billionaires and millionars for tomorrow. Now Oprah is the only billionaire in America. We must change this.
First, I refuse to join the bandwagon against President Obama. As a grassroots volunteer my experience over the past 6 months has been to sadly witness the extreme apathy by black and some white people, o Health Care Reform, the TARP program and anything else.
The President was in the Senate when the TARP was put into place. It is NOT his or his administration’s fault that proper accountability was not placed on Bankers at the time the money was given out.
I wish that the Black media and the White media would inform themseleves about the work that has been done throughout the grassroots communities in this country. I am saddened particularly to tune in to your program and hear erroneous reporting and the same “sharks to blood” disparaging remarks. The Black community in particular, should step up to the plate, that includes the Black media especially. The criticisms are mostly without basis of fact. Get involved, encourage black people to participate in the grassroots efforts to support the President. Enough of this moaning, groaning and help get black people properly informed and show them how to participate in their destiny. The President cannot and should not do what the citizens of this country are not willing to do
After the President acts in an undignified manner by doing what you suggested in your “Perspective”, what do you think the outcome will be? Let’s be clear, you and other young black commentators need to review your history in the American political arena very carefully. Before you leap, get the facts and present them in a coherent manner without all the load, boastful and threatening rhetoric. I am embarrased by all of this “in your face”
style of commentary from black journalists. Where is the class? You are beginning to sound like a brown skinned Rush Limbaugh..Not appropriate or kind at all. Your tone and your intonation is not supportive. The President has an established pipeline to the White House through the whitehouse.gov website. He responds to his grassroots workers through another website. I assume you know which one that is. Encourage black people to get appropriately involved in a solution by engaging themselves. The ranting and raving is totally unproductive. We finally have a leader of this country that listens and is genuinely trying to help everyone who is hurting. How shameful that black people are more eager to “throw him under the bus” before he has given a full year of service. Shame on all of you!
Roland I really did not enjoy your show on Suunday. First of all I felt you didn’t give April the opportunity to speak on a number of ocassions, you interrupted her and it was rude. Second of all I kinda agree with you that the President needs to raise some hell with the bankers, but it’s too much President bashing going on on your show, I can watch meet the press, fox new and John King for that. Don’t get tme wrong, I think the President needs to get tough but you, that panel from yesterday not to mention the black cacus are doing just what the GOP wants and you are doing it every Sunday. I’m done I won’t be watching anymore, i feel this could be handled better and I thought it would have been on your show.
Roland President Obama get attack every day my white folks do you really think he needs it from us, why can’t we do like white folks they do NOT attack white folks but we will attack black you make me SICK
Roland President Obama get attack every day my white folks do you really think he needs it from us, why can’t we do like white folks they do NOT attack white folks but we will attack black you make me SICK
My name is Jason Bryant, I am married and a father of 2. A 2 year old son and a 1 year old daughter. My reasoning for this letter today is simply because I am tired. I am sick and tired. Sick and tired of it being so hard to get a job. Every time I get a well paying job I get layed off. That’s because all I can ever get is a temp job. After they through with you they basically throw you out like trash. First of all the application process is way to long and uncalled for. Why can’t the application just be simple and to the point. I have a problem with jobs always asking for the applicant to have a certain amount of experience before you are qualified to work. I say this, how can we get experience on any job if no job will hire me. I personally think, and I’m sure they’re plenty of other unemployed people out there who will agree. That every single job should have on the job training. That way more people will have the opportunity to work. Too many people are struggling because of this not enough experience thing. It’s kind of funny though because these employers hire these foriegn people and train them. I had this job one time that pays $12 but I was getting paid under the table. I got injured one day and still show up the following day to work. The guy said to me, “we no longer require you help, honestly I could replace you and pay a mexican to do your job for half of what I pay you”. We have schools that train for job experience but if you’re broke how can you afford to pay for school. School loans are hard to pay back and grants are so hard to get. The schools tell you that when you graduate they will place you on a job. Excuse my language but that’s bull. I went to this school for training in heavy equipment operations and construction. They said guarantee job placement after completing the 3 part training. I graduate and receive my certificates but no job placement. Every job that I searched for on my own was asking for a minimum of 2 to 3 years experience. The school was only 9 weeks training. I’m S.O.L now and stuck with a 18,000 dollar student loan. My sister also went to school but for nursing and that school promised the same thing but guest what same results S.O.L. Two of my friend’s also went to school for medical training. They graduate and only thing they get is a bill to pay back. These school’s are just out for money not for helping the people further their education.
Mr. President to make a very long story short. I am asking you to pass a law requiring every company to offer on the job training. This will definitely open more job opportunities. The unemployment rate here in Georgia is ridiculous on the black race. I will not lie, every place I go for employment is either hiring Hispanics, whites, or other foreign races for positions. I go the unemployment office and it’s full of all black people. Something has to change.
Thank you,
Jason Bryant
P.S., Thank you for everything you have done so far and what you are currently doing to improve our country.
George Bush was the president–the “decider” who decided that the banks should be bailed out, thus giving them over 300 billion dollars with no strings attached. Remember that Barack Obama was president elect, and he had no say so over nothing that Bush decided to do. If they had taken it to Congress, Obama could not have voted because he was no longer a senator. But when he became president, the free ride for the banks stopped and he put stipulations on them for getting more money, the reason they hurried to repay the money. On another note, it Obama is not acting thuggish enough in the white House, then Roland Martin, an American citizens can run, create his own agenda, and kick some ass if the congress and senate don’t dance to his music. Besides, if he knew as much as the president, he would be President Roland Martin, not Roland Martin the commentator.
I agree 100% with Dorothy. Roland, do your homework before critizing. Sounds like you (like other cable news networks) are trying to increase your ratings. You want to increase ratings, start airing at 10am against some of big name media networks, seek to have some excerpts of your show posted on HuffingtonPost. I have yet to read any excerpts such as those from Keith Olberman’s show and others. Get off the President’s back.
Jason, sad to say but president obama cannot make white folks hire us, and roland martin is working for them.
Jason, I work for the Tom Joyner Morning Show, BLACK-OWNED.
I work for TV One. BLACK-OWNED.
In fact, I own my own company, so I work for myself. BLACK-OWNED.
I also work for CNN, a publicly-traded company.
So, what white folks do I work for?
ROLAND – you need to check yourself. Remember NAT TURNER and the slave revolt?? Slavery has done a job on you brotha. You need to be de-programed. How can a Minority people take over a CONTINENT??? They brainwash them. Enslave the mind and you enslave people without chains. Blacks have our work to do. First we need to be equal in Power, then we can start changes. Roland – YOU HAVE NO POWER. Uplift our President and we can begin the task of uplifting ourselves. TV ONE needs to put you on notice.
Sorry, that wasn’t for Jason. It was meant for Tenay.
So, Tenay, are you saying that we can’t offer any critiques of President Obama because SOME white folks attack him?
OK, fine. If that is the standard, we should offer no criticism of any black elected official because white folks may attack them. If we have any problems, we are to keep our mouths shut and be quiet because of what white folks do.
Hmmm. So am I to not criticize the White House for telling a black governor in New York not to run for re-election? Forget the fact that he has provided far more business to black-owned companies than ANY of his predecessors, but because the black president says so, I’m supposed to shut up and not speak up for Gov. David Paterson?
No. No white politician owns by voice. And no black politician owns my voice. If we are to speak truth to power, that must be for those who look like us and those that don’t.
mk1600, HuffingtonPost chooses to run what they want. We can’t make them run what we want.
Second, our show airs at 11 am EST Sunday and repeats at 5 pm est Sunday. And not all Sunday morning shows air at 10 am. In fact, some air earlier in different markets, especially depending on what football game is airing.
You say get the facts. OK, where was I wrong? Don’t just throw something out there. You too Dorothy. Show me where I was wrong in my critique.
In fact, Dorothy, your facts are dead wrong. The Obama Administration provided additional bailout money to the various banks, even after Bush was gone. The Obama Administration had the right to change the rules in how the TARP money was doled out. They didn’t. So please, don’t ever assume I haven’t done my homework.
The Obama Administration did not mandate that banks modify loans. So black wealth is being wiped out as they “work” with the banks. Is your home in foreclosure? If it was, I bet you wouldn’t be so easily dismissive and blame Bush.
And as for running for president, Pres. Obama chose to do so. Yes, the job is hard. But as Gen. Colin Powell said to me, this is why he ran for the job.
God has given me my gift – media – and he has given President Obama his gift – politics. I have the same right to critique this president as I did Bush II, Clinton, Bush I and Reagan. Or are black folks supposed to not say a word when we see something that is morally wrong, such as the whole scale wiping out of black wealth?
First of all roland you own your own business, and said nothing to jason about maybe you can help him, you are full of it. Second of all if you don’t support President Obama yes you should shut up because all you do is repeat what comes out white folks mouth, so we have all already heard what you got to say.

Roland read the blog from boycottblackmen, about the media and tell what you think
Tenay,
So when I supported President Obama, I wasn’t repeating what came out of the mouths of white folks. But now that I have a critique, I’m repeating what white folks are saying. So basically, if I’m praising President Obama, I’m an independent and free-thinking black man. But when posing critical questions, I’m a lackey for white folks? Do you even know how stupid that sounds? Yes, stupid.
I want to actually read your post again and realize how silly it is. So now white folks control my mind. Wow.
Roland I am sure you have tape from all the shows you been on you need to seat down and watch them and then comment.
Well Roland, Obama has to have trur grit to deal with everything as President. He is feminized and waek to say the least. He getsno respect from the Arabs, chinese, russians, etc. We are the laughingstock of the world. As far as TvOne not having the money to do live shows, it is the sign of the times we are in. Merry christmas & Happy new year roland martin. I hope you and your family will have a blessed holiday season. Also, inform the beautiful Tara Wall when you see her to have a good holiday season. She has a handsome admirer.
Sam simi valley you are a laughingstock to even comment.
Tenay who are you to judge a city? so where are you from? nobody is commenitng on what city a person on here is from? why are you? are you still mad at the rodney king trial back in 1992? have you ever been here? do you believe everything you hear on urban radio about this place? True black people are the laughinstock of America. Look at your presidient(feminized man, black massiah, etc)Have you read the divorce rate, abortion rate, child out of wedlock in black america? Black america needs to repent of its debacuhery before God Almighty can truly bless us. I know most will disagree and that is fine with me & it is well my soul.
JMD, we have been through this before. How can we uplift a man who seems to give more credit and favors to the terrorists than the citizens of this country? How can we uplift a man who RAMS a trillion dollar plus bill down America’s throats that neither insures all Americans or reduces premiums? On top of that it takes out lots of small businesses with taxes and expenses in the middle of a deep recession?
We’ve got JB up there stating that the economy is bad and begging this President, who ignores the economy, to pass some insane law to hire folks so they can get experience. Why can’t JB see what I see? JB, even the Black caucus and the NAACP have begged Obama to concentrate on the economy. Did you miss that?
I could go on but you get my point. I see you guys jumping on Roland and of course playing the race card because he sees more than Obama’s black skin. Unlike the people that are attacking him.
Dorothy, this economy was on the brink of disaster when Bush passed the first stimulus bill. It was a must. By the way, it was Tim Giethner, now Obama’s Treasury secretary, who put all the plans together including the one under Bush so what are you talking about? If Obama was so dissatisfied about the spending, which he has completely gone overboard on, then why did he bring Geithner on board. That reminds me on the Iraq war how Obama continually blames Bush for the war but conveniently forgets that Biden and Hillary also voted for the war. You can’t have it both ways.
Unfortunately, all too often the black community is more worried about Obama than their own health and financial status. If you would use common sense and really look at what’s going on ( the facts)with this government you will see you are headed for deeper trouble.
I have read through more posts and I am thoroughly disturbed with what I have read. Not to mention Obama’s first stimulus bill which was written by Nancy Pelosi and other far left wing elements. You remember, the stimulus bill that basically has been used to repay his Democratic strongholds, the one where only 35% of it has been spent so far. The one where more than half is due to hit in 2010 and 2011 just before the 2012 elections. The almost $800 billion dollar stimulus. Yet none of you mention that at all.
And now the Dems have nerve to mention another stimulus. No way. Cut the spending now. Of course, none of you mentioned the high taxation and high spending by the government during this recession. Think about this people. Does that make sense to you? Who will create more jobs under that scenario?
You cannot see the manipulation that is happening here. People you must wake up.
In response to Erma Berry,I too am a black woman, and I also supported Barack Obama in the grassroots efforts.Black people are well informed and most definitely participate in our destiny. If we dont, who will? We have been participating in the fight for our rights and our destiny for 400 years.Since we were bought to this country as slaves. And since the Native Americans were killed and robbed of their land. What planet have you been living on?
Why do we feel that the office of POTUS has some omnipotent power that can instantly overcome any challenge? The banks and financial industry has infiltrated and taken control of our economy with our eyes wide open. Does anyone really expect that by merely with the election of Barack Obama that they would shake in their boots and change their ways? Or even to give up the massive power they been allowed to amass so easily?
If you want the banks to recognize that the party is over – we, the people – need to stop empowering them to become the entities “too big to fail” in the first place. How many are angry and upset with the banks, TARP, Wall Street, etc. and STILL use those institutions, continuing to be the fodder to feed their incessant appetite for greed? You want to send a message, President Obama can only do so much; remember, the Federal Reserve is a private corporation, not a federal one, and so are the banks. We have to show them that we understand where their true power lies and exercise it very quickly lest they do it all right over again. Nothing has changed to stop them from doing so, we just hit the reset button.
This is bigger than the president; the Federal Reserve banking system runs the monetary system. The big multi international corporation and the rich govern decisions and rules on the Federal Reserve board. The Federal Reserve Bank is not run by the federal government. If the federal government or the U.S. Treasury Department ran the monetary system then maybe president Obama could kick some ass.
Sorry folks but Obama is just another Washington politician with his hand in the cookie jar. He hasn’t changed Washington but has really shown us how corrupt it can be. In other words, he’s shown us how they do it in Chicago. He’s not looking out for you. If so tell me how.
