OPRAH WINFREY: SUED FOR $1 TRILLION
THE FACTS:
• According to the Houston Chronicle, author Damon Lloyd Goffe has filed a trillion dollar copyright infringement suit against Oprah Winfrey.
THE SPIN:
Regardless of whether or not his allegations are true, author Damon Lloyd Goffe has made it very difficult for anyone to take him seriously when he’s asking Oprah for a $1 trillion dollars.
Really, Goffe? Why not sue her for 20,000 chicken nuggets and a trip to the moon while you’re at it?
In any event, the writer filed a suit in D.C. accusing Queen O of plagiarizing his book A Tome of Poetry in her Internet-published work, Pieces of My Soul.
In court documents, Goffe writes: “In April 2008 Oprah confessed to seizing original works of authorship.”
Claiming Winfrey sold an alleged 650 million copies of the book online for $20, Goffe and his legal team is seeking $1.2 trillion in damages.
The book is no longer available online. Speaking of things not available, no way in the world is this dude about to get a trillion dollars out of Oprah.
YOUR SPIN: Will Goffe EVER see that money?
