According to the New York Post, Friday night wasn’t the best night for the Rev. Al Sharpton’s daughter and ex-wife.
They report:
The Rev. Al Sharpton’s ex-wife and daughter were arrested last night after berating a pair of Harlem cops who pulled them over for running a red light in the wrong lane to get around their slow-moving, unmarked cruiser, sources told The Post.
Kathy Jordan, 53, and her daughter, Dominique Sharpton, 23, were handcuffed and hauled to a precinct, where the raging reverend’s daughter tried to no avail to get off the hook because of her family ties, the sources said.
It seems daughter Sharpton honked her tone and then tailgated a vehicle from NYPD’s Housing Bureau before blowing up. The Post claims she “furiously swerved across the double yellow line and sped through a red light to get past the cop car.” And once she was pulled over, she and her mother were accused of becoming “belligerent and argumentative.”
An attorney for Al Sharpton called the arrests and desk appearance tickets “highly questionable and unusual,” and noted that Sharpton would “look into the case.”
Based on what’s been reported thus far is this another case of “driving while black” is should someone have driven in silence?

Sorry but I would have to side with the cops on this one for one reason. They play games like that all the damn time! They do stuff like that on purpose hoping you’ll do something illegal they can bust you on.
I know police have done that to me on a few occassions. They’ll get right behind my bumper hoping I’ll speed up despite the fact I am already doing the legal limit! I just keep that limit just to piss them off! LOL! Sorry, no free ticket today!
Back to this story, Sharpton’s ex-wife and daughter should’ve kept their cool instead of acting rash like they did. True, it was probably the NYPD’s little trap but you have to be smarter and cooler than that. As far as I can tell, there is no racial discrimination here. Just a cheap trick that police everywhere uses to catch dumba**es that’ll do something stupid.
Some people think that just because someone in the family is in the media, they think that he or she can do anything and get away. I have to side with the police on this one.
I think Rev Al was furious on how they behaved not at the police officers. He’s probably going through the emotions for family to investigate the matter further.
Rev. Al has a right to be furious. How would you feel if your female family members traveling in NYC were arrested for going thru a red light? Phew! I don’t buy it. NYC has crime going on everywhere the police should concentrate on more serious issues then trying to humilate Kathy and Dominique. I feel this was done simply because they are connected to Rev. Sharpton. Not Fair at all!!!

Where is it stated that the officer knew the they were related to Sharpton.
Come on people…wrong is wrong. She probably laid on the horn a little to long, went around them, as we do and unfortunately got caught because it was an unmark police car.
Shame on these lady but there is no need to call for a march.
Running red lights can get someone killed or seriously disabled. That’s why it’s against the law to run them.
They’d better be glad no accident occurred from it, and unless they can argue that they didn’t run the light, there’s not much they can say that would justify doing it.

Sorry Tracey but so far, the police are in the right on this one. Plus, the fact that you are a Sharpton should not entitle you to any special treatment.
And, as I said before, cops use stunts like that all the time to set up folks. And its perfectly legal (at least technically). That’s why you have to be smart while driving out there. Sharpton’s ex-wife and daughter brought that all on themselves so unless (as someone else has said) they can prove it was a set up targeted at them, they should just take the consequences like adults. No march on this one.
They should have accepted the ticket. Reacting loud and angry just added fuel to the fire. Putting the word out that they are Al Sharpton’s family members probably did not earn them any favor with NYPD. If it was me, I would not have volunteered that information.

Al Sharpton should not worry one strand of hair about this. This is not worth the hype that’s what the media and snakes want to do out of this little episode is bring negative attention to this matter when there are those who do much worst then this and you don’t hear anything about it. Who cares is what I say no was hurt out of it besides pride and don’t let them have that either.
