Chilli talked about her upcoming dating reality show with Essence.com.

THE SPIN
I remember for the longest Chilli was talking about her solo album. How she was working with Akon on the project, that she was hard at work to prove the naysayers wrong, and on and on.

Now she’s doing a reality show.

Go figure.

Chilli spoke to Essence.com on her new dating reality show, and shared her thoughts on why she did it, what she hopes to get out of it, and oh yeah, Usher.

On how her reality show came about:

“Our producer from TLC’s show R U the Girl? was fascinated by my outlook on men and thought I was too picky. Years later we developed a show to help me find someone. I was very clear it couldn’t be your typical dating show. I’m very picky and all women should be. I want to encourage women to fight for what it is you really want, and stand by that. Otherwise you will have a lot of heartbreak or will be left unfulfilled. When you bring a lot to the table, you can’t be with someone who is half-stepping.”

On how her show will be different from the other dating shows:

“One thing is for sure, there will be no kissing on the mouth with these guys. That is so gross. That’s not a part of getting to know someone. They won’t all live in the same house either. It will definitely be a lot of fun. I’m not limiting myself to Black guys. I’m open to all men and all Black women should be. You may miss out on the man of your dreams because you are trying to stick with a brother.”

On if she will get back with Usher:

“(Laughs.) I don’t know. You never know. Only the good Lord knows that. If it’s meant for us to stay apart, we will, and if it’s meant to be the other way, somehow in the future it may happen.”

On how being a mother impacts her dating life:

“I would never get serious with anyone who had a problem with kids. I don’t like when women are dating and they present every guy they are dating as a boyfriend around the kids. When you are a great mom, it’s hard to not bring someone you are dating around your kid, but you don’t display affection in front of them. “This is mommy’s friend,” and that’s so your kids aren’t confused and develop bad habits.”

On why she thinks she’s ready for love:

“I’m hard on guys, that’s why I said maybe I do need a little help from VH1. I also know I have avoided many werewolves being tough. As a celebrity and just a woman who takes care of herself, you have to be very careful. Guys talk more than we do. I can go on a lunch date, and the guy spins it to something else, and that includes celebrities. All of that turned me off from dating. Now I am at the point to open up again. It’s also important to be able to enjoy your own company and I love my space. I do hope to get married one day, and when I do I still hope to enjoy being alone. Hopefully I will connect with somebody on this show. We already know ultimately who everyone wants me with (laughs).”

Chris Brown will take part in a Michael Jackson tribute concert organized by Jermaine Jackson.

THE SPIN
If not for Michael Jackson there would be no Chris Brown, so I suppose it’s only right that if not for Michael Jackson, Chris Brown would have no second chance at having a career either.

It’s been announced that Chris Brown will headline Jermaine Jackson’s planned tribute concert to his late brother in Vienna.

This event will mark Breezy’s first public performance since February.

Brown will be joined by Mary J. Blige, Akon, Natalie Cole, Sister Sledge, German boy band US5, and Angela Bassett. The event it said to include 20-25 performers, so more names will be announced shortly.

For those of you who don’t want to watch Brown, I only have one thing to say: It’s been announced that sometime during the show Jermaine Jackson will take the stage and perform a virtual duet with Michael. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jermaine tries to work in a performance of “Don’t Take It Personal,” too.

Poor guy. He’s still trying to get some shine – and I’m not talking the kind his scalp illuminates.

Say what you will about Chris, but I’d rather watch him perform than Jermaine. Michael probably would, too.

Whitney Houston’s new album is released today.

This hasn’t been the decade for Whitney Houston.

The 00’s kicked off with Whitney mysteriously bailing on a planned performance at the Academy Awards. Though she cited a soar throat as the culprit, rumors sparked that she showed up acting the fool at rehearsal.

Of course, we all remember her infamous “crack is wack” comment in her interview with Diane Sawyer.

Then there’s the Being Bobby Brown reality series. Sure, most people got their laughs in, but then people thought about it – this isn’t the Whitney we’ve come to love.

This is Nippy Newport – an erratic woman who’s not doing anything close to what made her famous.

That’s why you don’t remember the Just Whitney album or her holiday collection, One Wish: The Christmas Album.

It’s why you purposely ignore her showing at Michael Jackson’s 30th anniversary special looking like a disco skeletor.

Despite her hardships, she’s officially back with her new album, I Look To You. Trying to mix styles old and new Whitney goes back to longtime collaborations like Diana Warren and David Foster in addition to new ones like Akon, Alicia Keys, and R. Kelly.

The reviews are pouring in and most of them are positive. But many ignore one big fact: She can’t sing the way she used to. Still, she’s back so the question is: “Will you be supporting her new effort?
