HAVE JANET AND JERMAINE REUNITED?

THE FACTS
A picture of Janet Jackson and ex-boyfriend Jermaine Dupri together in Milan recently surfaced online.

THE SPIN
Only a month ago did Harper’s Bazaar write that Janet Jackson was newly single. Although no official confirmation came from either camp, sources told the press that the couple was done. But the two look mighty friendly in this picture.

Of course, the two could be sitting so close because they’re both fearful of Donatella Versace’s next odd facial expression – you never know.

Either way Janet hasn’t looked this great in years, and while E! News may have thrown shade at Damita Jo for how she’s been dressing lately I think she looks rather spiffy.

She could look a lot worse. We’ve all seen her siblings, no?

JERMAINE DUPRI: ‘DEF JAM IS THE TITANIC’

THE FACTS
Jermaine Dupri finally issues statement on him vacating his position at Def Jam.

THE SPIN
As you all know, Jermaine Dupri is the shy type. Sure, he has opinions just like you and I, but he never ever goes out of his way to make them known. Because you know, he’s way too politically correct for that.

OK, let me stop lying before my keyboard explodes. JD wasn’t happy when he left Virgin, and he’s definitely pissed about exiting Def Jam.

Here’s what the ex-boyfriend of Janet had to say about his former place of employment:

“They [weren't] prepared for a person like myself,” he explained. “They [were] basically out for themselves. I never was on a team like that. I was always on a team that was supportive of what I wanted to do and this time it was more like ‘we need you to do this.’ People know me to create new artists [and to] continuously come with new people. Once I realized I was basically on my own in that building, I said ‘it’s time for me to get out of here.’ I saw the decline of Def Jam and I was just like ‘I don’t want to be a part of a sinking ship.’…[There's] definitely hard feelings because I’m not cool with people stunting my growth. I’m a person that keeps growing. Everybody knows the history of Jermaine Dupri. Everybody knows what I’ve done from day one from one group to the next, it was all new artists and you have to continue doing that. If you get in the way of that you stunt that growth. They [have] bigger problems to deal with, I mean I’m not running around like ‘f*ck Def Jam!’ I’m just saying I would not really deal with them ever again… It feels like it’s a resurgence of independent labels…It just feels like the right thing for me.”

JAGGED EDGE DUMPS JERMAINE DUPRI

THE FACTS
Brandon Casey has dismissed any rumor of a reunion with producer Jermaine Dupri.

THE SPIN
Although they had their hits here and there, I’m not sure if Jagged Edge ever reached their full potential. “JE Heartbreak” is one of the best R&B albums from a male group post-Jodeci.

Then after a while all of their songs started to sound the same and I forgot they were alive. Yeah, sorry if that sounds mean but look, I’m being honest. I forgot.

However, they are indeed still around (I didn’t know either, ya’ll), but don’t look for them shouting out So So Def on the record.

In a recent interview lead singer Brandon Casey dismissed any talk of a reunion saying:

“No. I usually like to leave the door open for questions like that, but I’m going to go ahead and close that door. No, we’re not working with Jermaine. I’m not really looking to ever work with Jermaine again. It’s not beef. It’s no love lost. I just think we’re on two different pages and that’s fine. He can be where he’s at and we can be where we’re heading.”

This is odd, because in a previous interview with Human Nature magazine, the group said they looked forward to working with JD once again in the future. Apparently the rift came over recording ballad-heavy albums.

In that interview, Casey discussed their upcoming album and noted:

“We’re looking at this next record as if it’s the R&B version of [Dr. Dre’s] ‘The Chronic.’ “It’ll feature party music to go along with where music is at now. To stay with the trend, we’re going to come with something faster.”

Oh these artists never learn. You’re famous for songs like “Let’s Get Married.” “Where The Party At?” did well, but where is Nelly these days?

Exactly. I give them two years before they’re calling JD to record a ballad.
