IS THERE SOMETHING ABOUT SANAA’S NEW MAN?

THE FACTS
There’s a rumor that Sanaa Lathan’s new boyfriend uses black women.

THE SPIN
Sanaa Lathan has been dating Steve Rifkind, founder and CEO of SRC Records.

While I personally have nothing wrong with the swirl (it’s given us Barack Obama and Mariah Carey, thank you), I do take issue with people who only fade to black to perpetuate some sort of racial stereotype fantasy.

Is that the case about Sanaa’s Steve? That’s the word via the YBF.

Their source says, “He’s very shady. He gets with several black women. That’s just his thing.”

And what other kind of things is he allegedly into? Dating women for years and telling them “he’s getting a divorce” that never happens apparently. That’s reportedly what happened to Sari Baez.

Here’s their love story:

“Steve’s wife didn’t even know [he and Sari] were together at first.  He even moved Sari into his and his wife’s NYC apartment!  His offices were in New York.  So he played both women telling Sari he was only going to see his kids when he spent weekends back home in Palm Beach.  And he was telling his wife he had to ‘go do some business’ when he left for NYC to be with Sari.”

This could all be true or it could be the brainchild of some salty somebody who has an ax to grind. Whatever the case, good luck with that, Sanaa.

ANGELA SIMMONS WANTS YOU TO RISE ABOVE THE HATE

THE FACTS
Angela Simmons has responded to criticism about her interracial relationship.

THE SPIN
Have you all learned nothing from biracial butterflies like President Obama, Mariah Carey, and Tiger Woods? Why are we still debating to swirl or not to swirl? Apparently Angela Simmons has been catching flack for her white boyfriend and she has taken to her Uncle’s site, Global Grind, to respond to her critics.

She wrote:

“I am a lil surprised at the number of people that seem to disapprove of the relationship with my boyfriend.  I find this reality to be kind of hard to accept.  There are times when I notice people giving us long hard stares and those stares are usually from my own people!

Honestly, I wish everyone could benefit from the beauty that can come from experiences that happen outside of your own comfort zone.  It is truly a beautiful thing that can add so much to your life.

Give it a shot and you can learn so much from a person you never thought you’d talk to or have something in common with.  I’m not just talking about dating but about all types of relationships.

Sometimes society makes it hard for us to be comfortable enough in our own skin to embrace others who are different.

I am a firm believer that we are all the same. Basically what I’m saying is love everyone. Rise above the hate. I don’t feel like this subject gets enough attention, so I thought I would share this with my GG family.”She forgot to add: “God is love, Daughter Run.”

MARIAH TALKS EMINEM

THE FACTS
In an interview with The Guardian Mariah Carey shared her thoughts on Eminem.

THE SPIN
Though she’s made vague references about him previously, Mariah Carey has directly responded to some of Eminem’s more recent tirades and the extension of their relationship that seems to still have him swinging from her bra strap.

Via The Guardian:

On Em’s diss track “The Warning”:

“He wrote a song about me and my husband, and in a really derogatory and juvenile way. And it’s not up to par with his other songs. … See, the difference is, my song is on the radio and his, you have to search for it.”

On “Obsessed” being about Eminem:

“I never said it was about him. If he sees himself in that song…”

On their rumored relationship:

“I’m not a fan. There’s no connection there. I knew him, kind of vaguely, eight years ago, on a purely platonic level, and then he wasn’t my friend any more and I was like, OK, whatever. And this was eight years ago and he’s just writing this song. For no reason. No reason.”

On what Nick Cannon would do if he sees Eminem:

“He is going to slap him if he ever sees him. He boxes.”
