IS JENNIFER LOPEZ JACKING FROM BEYONCE?

THE FACTS
Jennifer Lopez denies that her new alter ego “Lola” is a permanent fixture .

THE SPIN
I’m tired of celebrities and their alter egos. Beyonce and Sasha Fierce, Ciara and Super Ci, Mary J. Blige and Brook-Lyn – don’t they know that they all sound out of their rabbit minds?

Want to know what’s worse than jumping on the multiple-personality disorder bandwagon? Lying about it.

Jennifer Lopez dropped a new single under the name “Lola” and after folks font-checked her for pulling a Beyonce (funny, only seven years ago were people saying it was the other way around) her people have come in to say it’s all in fun.

Epic Records president Amanda Ghost insists Lopez is not trading her previous nickname of J.Lo for Lola.

She told People.com: “This is a hot club record that the label loved and Jennifer thought was fun. Jennifer and Pitbull got together and the record leaked. Lola is a fun character just for this song.”

And a source close to Lola Lopez added: “Lola is just for this song, it’s not her ongoing persona. It’s something fun. She hasn’t become Sasha Fierce (Beyonce’s alter ego). There won’t be anything to do with Lola on her Love? album.”

It’s not her ongoing persona but they’ve set up a Web site and Twitter account for a one-time thing? Either they’re terrible liars or they sure know how to waste money. Regardless of which scenario applies, can we please stop channeling our inner United States of Tara?

Here’s the single, “Fresh Out of the Oven” from Jennifer “Don’t Call Me Lola Since Ya’ll Hate It” Lopez:

I don’t know about ya’ll, but she ought to toss this song in the microwave. Or the trash can.

MARY J. BLIGE TALKS TYLER PERRY

THE FACTS
Mary J. Blige talked movies, altar egos, and drag queens in an interview with the New York Daily News.

THE SPIN
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul sat down with the New York Daily News and talked about her role in Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself, out this week in theaters.

On her past battles with addiction:

“It’s definitely relatable due to my own situation. People do need help when they’re in that situation, and only love, only love can really, really pull you out of any kind of addiction. Mostly love for God and yourself, period — that’s the only thing that’s gonna pull you out.”

On Faith:

“It’s always been crucial to me. Without it, I’m nothing. I’m nobody if I don’t know God. All my strength comes from God, every amazing thing I do, he gets the credit.”

On adding to her character in the new film:

“I had to use my imagination to build the character out of what was in the script. I did that with an acting coach, like research, I mean — I have her backstory, a birth date, siblings and a mom, and a sign. She’s a Leo.”

Outside of the film, she talked alter egos and those who use her as their own alter ego.

On her onstage alter ego Brook-Lynn:

“She’s around. She’s a rapper that’s really cocky and likes to talk junk and defend Mary. If we ever need her to defend Mary, we’ll pull her out.”

On the drag queens who walk around like Marvin J. Blige:

“I’ve seen several of them. The ones that get it right, it’s a little spooky how great they look. I think, wow, that really looks like me. Omigod, when they get it right, they get it right.”

CHRIS BROWN PLOTS COMEBACK

THE FACTS
Chris Brown will take part in a Michael Jackson tribute concert organized by Jermaine Jackson.

THE SPIN
If not for Michael Jackson there would be no Chris Brown, so I suppose it’s only right that if not for Michael Jackson, Chris Brown would have no second chance at having a career either.

It’s been announced that Chris Brown will headline Jermaine Jackson’s planned tribute concert to his late brother in Vienna.

This event will mark Breezy’s first public performance since February.

Brown will be joined by Mary J. Blige, Akon, Natalie Cole, Sister Sledge, German boy band US5, and Angela Bassett. The event it said to include 20-25 performers, so more names will be announced shortly.

For those of you who don’t want to watch Brown, I only have one thing to say: It’s been announced that sometime during the show Jermaine Jackson will take the stage and perform a virtual duet with Michael. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jermaine tries to work in a performance of “Don’t Take It Personal,” too.

Poor guy. He’s still trying to get some shine – and I’m not talking the kind his scalp illuminates.

Say what you will about Chris, but I’d rather watch him perform than Jermaine. Michael probably would, too.
