Despite being the belle of the ball at the Grammys, Beyonce still has a long ways to go in the acting world.
Look no further for proof of this assertion than the nominations for the annual Razzi Awards.
The Queen Bey has the distinct honor of joining other singer turned actresses like Mariah Carey and Madonna after securing a worst actress nomination for her role in the film, Obsessed.
First of all, “I’ll show you crazy” is one of the greatest lines of all-time (yes, I said that in my Kanye voice) so I don’t appreciate the shade being thrown at Beyonce.
Then again, I’m one of the few people out there who doesn’t think she’s the worst actress alive. I happened to think she did a great job in Cadillac Records. Granted, Obsessed made me appreciate the cinematic brilliance of movies like Howard The Duck, but I didn’t think Beyonce did worse than anyone else in the film (particularly Idris Elba and his horrible accent).

Yes, they have to bring up Bee! While I am sure that she wasn’t that good in Obsessed, I doubt she’s the worst actress ever! There are some that do it for a living that suck!

She is really not a good actress. I think she thinks because she can cry and yell or curse, that makes her good. Any actor worth their salt can do the basics. it is what you add above and beyond, like Mo Nique did for Precious, is what really makes you an actor.

I agree with Ervin Beyonce is not the worst. Even though she is not a great actress, but there are worse.
Taylor Swift should be in at least of these categories….folks are getting tired of that line, “every little girl dream” and giving that “omigod, I won look”….stay tuned!
Why Black women hate Beyonce
This is a shout out to all the sisters. Beyonce haters are typically Black women, and I have heard from them in abundance, dissecting her looks and criticizing her acting and singing. A lot of it goes back to when Beyonce fronted Destiny’s Child, an apparent Supremes story for the 21st century: the darker skinned, presumably more talented young women in the group were relegated to back-up singers, while the lighter-skinned Beyonce basked in the spotlight. Her post-Destiny’s Child success seems only to have mutliplied the number of members in the Beyonce Haters club.
Her performace in Dreamgirls seemed oddly ironic, and she was outshined, perhaps on purpose, by Jennifer Hudson. Then, Beyonce’s portrayal of Etta James in Cadillac Records even seemed to annoy Etta James. Her performance in Obsessed, a story that one would think sisters would have eaten up like cake, was once again not good enough for the Beyonce haters out there.
OK, I’ll give it to you: She can’t sing like Mariah or Whitney, and she can’t act like Angela Bassett or Kerry Washington. But can Angela Bassett or Kerry Washington sing like Beyonce? Can Mariah or Whitney be directed like her? I think Beyonce’s talent — and I do believe she has one — is her ability to do act and sing, not the fact that she excels at either. Two out of three of her leading roles, she has played singers.
Her other talent is that she’s the total package: beautiful, young and marketable. She attracts people in a way that Bassett can’t, in a way that not even Halle Berry can. Would you prefer Jennifer Lopez was getting these roles instead?

I am a black woman and I do not hate Beyonce, so I am pretty sure you did not hear all black women say they hate Beyonce.
If people stayed in their professional lanes, Jamie Foxx would have remained only a comedian. In addition, he’s now a respected actor and singer/musician. It’s no different than someone rising through the ranks of a corporation; people don’t begin where they’re destined to be. Sometimes they get there after taking a few detours.
There’s no disgrace in trying something new and failing at it, though I don’t even feel she’s a failure as an actress. She’s a young woman with a world of opportunities, who takes full advantage of them.
Branching out is a smart move for anyone, especially singers, because they make their real money from touring. I’m sure that having to be away from home most of the year becomes tiresome after a while.

I personally like the way Beyonce sings and yes she is a great performer, the point is that she is not that great of an actress, she is not the worse but she is not that good, Im sure over time she will get better. I dont know why you think black women hate Beyonce,from what I can see the media constantly promotes Beyonce and not many other talented singers get the spotlight that deserve it, there are so many more talented women out there who just dont get noticed, BUT like all good things they come to an end and fade so at some point the others will get there chance, for now Bey is doing her thing and there is nothing wrong with that, its just that we need to change the subject once in a while because it gets old!

Rance, but Jamie Foxx already possessed the talent in all three categories, he is equally yolked. Comedians often have to act, maybe not in dramas like Ray or the Soloist, but I’m sure that came easy and he’s already a natural born singer/musician. Some people can do both and do it well, like Jamie and Tyrese, but Bey is not one of those people. Maybe she will get there but when I think of the movie roles she’s already had and it hasn’t clicked yet, I don’t know. Jennifer Hudson can sing and in her first starring role (Dream Girls) she was great.

Mar, I thought she (B) was pretty good in “Dreamgirls”. But, I also thought Eddie Murphy was good playing a singer, though I’m sure he shudders whenever he hears, “Party all the Time”. I sure do.
I figure, hey, if you have it like that, why not? You can’t say she doesn’t live her dreams. I wouldn’t say I’ve seen any roles of Oscar caliber yet, but I don’t think she’s baaaad, either.
I think she has to do whatever she can to stay on top. No, she’s not a good actress, and no she is not the worst. But it seems as if she’s doing too much at one time to stay in the limelight. Everyone has their time, and at some point in time, her time will end. Then there will be another “beautiful” girl to take her place. Then people will get sick of that new girl too because that’s how Hollywood works. It over plays you.
Oh, and to win and Oscar you have to be pretty damn good to get one. Her roles so far have not made her “Oscar quality”.

Beyonce is such a success at singing and dancing because she’s been doing it for so long. Her success with those talents are the reason why she’s been offered so many prime roles. If she took acting classes and seriously studied the craft while she takes a break from her music career, there would most likely be a huge improvement.
