In an interview with Billboard.com, Damon Dash blames his financial troubles on the habit of being generous to others.

Dame Dash is not having the best 2009. The self-described “cake-a-holic” has seen his bank account go bulimic – which has prompted his wife, Rachel Roy, to file for divorce.

Though we’ve all learned from MC Hammer that it is actually possible to blow tens of millions of dollars as many Americans make Jiffy their new best friend, folks are still left with the question, “What the hell is wrong with you, Dame?”

Well, according to him, it’s focusing on his wife and Jim Jones and not himself.

He told Billboard.com:

“My mistake was watching everyone else’s careers and not watching mine. After being able to settle my wife’s company, I was able to start doing other things. My first approach was the music business and getting with Jim Jones… I spent the last six months doing research, trying to figure out how to use all my resources to blow this out (make his album a hit).”

Here’s a suggestion for a 2010 resolution: Start being stingy.
