With Wayne heading to prison soon for gun possession many are asking what will come of his long locs that have become associated with Wayne almost as much as a Styrofoam cup?
The blog, Fly Style Life spoke with one attorney who shared the followed:
We reached out to a lawyer friend of ours to find out Wayne’s sentence means for his almost waist-length locks.
“Male prisoners are only allowed to wear their hair in cornrows, going straight back. And they can’t exceed the ‘natural hairline’ in length.”
Now of course our question is: what does ‘natural hairline’ mean?
“It means it can’t extend the neck.” But there is one loop-hole in the issue – though I’m not sure it’s going to help Wayne. “Prisoners who claim Rastafarri as their religion are allowed in most cases to keep their locks. But even then there’s a process to determine if it’s genuine.”
I know what you’re saying, Why does it matter to prison officials in the first place? Well the rules on personal grooming have everything to do with safety and control. Authorities argue that contraband can be hidden in the hair and that is can be shaved to quickly alter appearance in the event of escape.
So it doesn’t look good for Weezy. This will be one interesting mug shot.
I know, I know: It’s not [that] important, but it will make for an interesting mug shot at least, right?

I broke the law. It was wrong of me, and for that I will face the consequences. All-in-all, shaving my hair off isn’t so bad considering I could have got much more time for what I did than 1 year.
Yes, I’ll miss my hair. Yes, I wish it was different. The fact is though, that maybe I should have taken that consequence in to consideration before breaking the law. I could have saved a lot of time and money by just getting a concealed carry permit, or better yet, just realized I have security that has licenses for those sort of things. It’s not like I don’t have the money for either, and I probably paid more in fines & legal fees than either would have cost.
All-in-all a dumb decision on my part. It’s not like I cant just grow it back when I get out. Right now, it’s the least of my worries. I’m more concerned about getting beat up or raped in prison, since other inmates are pretty unlikely to give a shit who I am/was.

Rappers and other celebrities should be held above the law. It’s simply not enough that Lil’ Wayne will only serve a fraction of the sentence that anyone else would have got for the same crime. He should be allowed to keep his hair, and the police, government, and world need to realize that his commercial success merits an immunity to legal reprecussions.

Instead of us getting mad over this, maybe I can use it as an opportunity to learn a lesson. A lesson about how who I am (a celebrity), doesn’t seperate me from what I am (a U.S. citizen.)
I really need to re-think a lot of my life choices anyway. Perhaps during my incarceration I can get help for my substance abuse issues. Or I could consider how to deliver a positive message to Americas youth instead of preaching a lifestyle that serves only to keep the poor poor, and make the rich richer.

Perhaps instead of granting you lee-way because of your status, you should actually be held to higher accountability. After all, by granting you concessions in matters like this, it may give the message to young people that doing these things are okay, and carry little consequence.
