MARY J. BLIGE TALKS TYLER PERRY

THE FACTS
Mary J. Blige talked movies, altar egos, and drag queens in an interview with the New York Daily News.
THE SPIN
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul sat down with the New York Daily News and talked about her role in Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself, out this week in theaters.
On her past battles with addiction:
“It’s definitely relatable due to my own situation. People do need help when they’re in that situation, and only love, only love can really, really pull you out of any kind of addiction. Mostly love for God and yourself, period — that’s the only thing that’s gonna pull you out.”
On Faith:
“It’s always been crucial to me. Without it, I’m nothing. I’m nobody if I don’t know God. All my strength comes from God, every amazing thing I do, he gets the credit.”
On adding to her character in the new film:
“I had to use my imagination to build the character out of what was in the script. I did that with an acting coach, like research, I mean — I have her backstory, a birth date, siblings and a mom, and a sign. She’s a Leo.”
Outside of the film, she talked alter egos and those who use her as their own alter ego.
On her onstage alter ego Brook-Lynn:
“She’s around. She’s a rapper that’s really cocky and likes to talk junk and defend Mary. If we ever need her to defend Mary, we’ll pull her out.”
On the drag queens who walk around like Marvin J. Blige:
“I’ve seen several of them. The ones that get it right, it’s a little spooky how great they look. I think, wow, that really looks like me. Omigod, when they get it right, they get it right.”

I really like Mary J Blige and I plan on supporting her by going to see this movie this weekend.
Is that the fad now? All the celebrities have alter egos. For everyone else, that’s called ‘multiple personality disorder’.
Anyway, I really like her music these days. Years ago when people compared her to Aretha Franklin, I thought there was no comparison. Mary J. is not a musician, and she had no vocal range. I’m still not sure she can hit high notes, but it’s OK because her voice has improved tremendously. She has grown into a true artist.
I love Mary J Bliege. She is great and I am going to see that movie and will report back after I see it. Love Tyler Perry.
I Love Mary J. Blige also.
LOL I feel you on that Rance
I loved mary J Blige since the 90′s and i find that she has grown alot as an artist and a woman and every thing she does from now on will be blessed. Keep up Gods work girl.
I love Mary J Blige in every thing she do. She is not fake like many singers today. They sing and think they can act. Mary is real and one of a kind, keep up the good work Mary.
