SANDRA BULLOCK AND MICHAEL JACKSON IMAGE AWARD NOMINEES

THE FACTS
Some have taken issue with Sandra Bullock and the Michael Jackson memorial service receiving Image Award nods.

THE SPIN
The NAACP unveiled its lists for nominees of its 41st Annual Image Awards and quite a stir erupted yesterday over two choice nominees.

The first being Sandra Bullock after she netted a Best Actress nomination her role in the film, The Blind Side. The other outcry is for the Michael Jackson memorial service, which received a nod as Best Variety Special.
I can see why people would take issue with both. You know, with Sandra Bullock not being black and Michael Jackson’s memorial service not really being a variety special and all. Slow year in TV, ya’ll?

Oh, I forgot to mention some are also livid that The Real Housewives of Atlanta received four nominations, but I chalk that up to the reality TV world we now live in. Feel free to join me in the “bring back sitcoms” prayer circle if you feel the spirit within.

In the meantime, check out the list of nominees for the television and film categories. For a complete list you can click here.

THE FACTS
Grammy award nominations were revealed last night.

THE SPIN
If you haven’t learned by now this is Beyonce’s world and we’re all just jiggin’ and ordering Popeye’s biscuits in it.

She was nominated in seven other categories, while others like Maxwell, Keri Hilson, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, earning additional nods as well.

Noticeably absent is previous Grammy darling, Kanye West, whose last offering, “808s and Heartbreaks,” seems to have been overlooked. What a shame, because many people were taken aback by the new description, I didn’t find the album to be that bad.

MARTIN LAWRENCE & JAMIE FOXX TEAM UP!

THE FACTS
Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence will do a film based on their Wanda and Sheneneh characters.

THE SPIN
Variety reports that Screen Gems has acquired Sheneneh and Wanda, which will pair the infamous female characters created by Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence.

Considering they’re both multi-million dollar per role actors, I wouldn’t think these two would seriously do this sort of film. But I’m glad they are.

Foxx will pen the script while Martin will produce.

If you recall, the project originated as a parody entitled Skank Robbers for the BET Awards.

But with reaction being so strong, Jamie and Martin pitched the concept into a real film.

Here’s a video of the parody:
