MICHAEL VICK TO POSE FOR PLAYGIRL?

THE FACTS
Michael Vick was offered $1,000,000 to pose in Playgirl magazine.

THE SPIN
If you’re wondering, yes this deal seems as stupid as it reads.

And yet a spokesman for Playgirl confirmed to Life & Style magazine the offer, saying: “I sent the request to Michael Vick on Wednesday, but we haven’t heard back yet. I figured he paid back society for dog fighting, but what about the animals? This way he could donate a large sum to PETA and all he’d have to do is pose for the magazine! It’s kind of a win-win situation!”

I’m confused. If my memory serves me correctly PETA wanted Rocky to bite Vick in the ankles, have Fozzy Bear and Boo Boo body slam him to the ground, and then get Miss Piggy to sit on him. Yet, now all of a sudden the bad blood would go away if Vick strips down?

But these are the same folks who put the father of Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter’s baby on the cover of publication so I guess as long as they get people talking, they’re good.

I’m sure some of you would love to see Michael Vick naked, but does that even make the slightest bit of sense to you?

MICHAEL VICK’S FIANCE SPEAKS OUT

THE FACTS
Michael Vick’s fiancé spoke to the press about why she stuck by him during his jail time and dismissal from the NFL.

THE SPIN
When Michael Vick went broke many a groupie chirped, “Oh forget him. He wasn’t all that anyway.”

But one woman – his fiancé – stood by him. And now that Vick is looking to restore his football career, his finances Kijafa Frink is getting the last laugh.

She spoke to the Philly Daily News about why she stuck by him after he went to jail for being man’s best friend’s worst enemy:

“I love Michael with all my heart, and I felt like you just don’t stay with a person just for the good times, you have to toughen out the bad times and in between,” Frink said yesterday, over lunch at the Union Trust restaurant in Center City.

“What kind of a woman would I be [to leave] ’cause the money went?

“I wanted to stand by him and hopefully he stands by me with whatever I face in my life going forward,” Frink said. “It seems like we’re getting out of the storm right now.”

The two are planning their wedding for next year and are pondering which city to marry in. Besides those two nuggets, Frink declined to offer further details.

MICHAEL VICK SPEAKS OUT ON DOG ABUSE

THE FACTS
In a blog entry on Global Grind, Michael Vick apologizes for his role in the dog fighting that led him to prison.

THE SPIN
Well now that he’s officially back in the NFL, Michael Vick has got to get his promo tour going. Yesterday, the newly-signed Philadelphia Eagle spoke to 60 Minutes and professed his love for lions, tigers, and bears.

And shortly after that interview aired, a blog entry written by Vick himself (or something) hit Global Grind. In his entry, Vick apologizes for what he did, calling his behavior “horrendous.”

Here’s an excerpt:

“What I did was horrendous.  Awful. Inhumane.   And I’ve no excuses for my actions.  It makes my heart hurt now to think about what I’ve done.  And I’m gonna be real honest, it took a while for me to get to this place.

Sitting in a prison cell didn’t make me feel remorse.  It was meeting so many animal lovers, speaking with them and looking them in their eyes. Staring at them.  Looking so deep into their eyes that I began to feel their pain. Allowing that pain to enter into my body is when I started to understand how bad it really was.   I have been trying hard to connect with people who feel this pain, because for my whole life I was disconnected from the suffering of animals.  And you might say, “come on Mike, how could you do those things to those dogs?”  And you’re right…I ask myself those questions every day.  What kind of person does this?  How does a human-being treat dogs or any animal with such pain and cruelty? And the hard part for me is the answer to these questions.  Because the answer is ME.  And I am trying so hard right now to become a better person, because who I was, I am ashamed of.”

And:

“Now that I’m trying my best to wake up, I know I have a lot of work to do. And this isn’t about trying to win a Super Bowl ring or a MVP trophy…this is about trying to save lives.  I think back to when I use to play football and of course I use to see all those kids in the stands wearing #7 jerseys. And I would never want them to look up to the Michael Vick who did all of those terrible things to the dogs.”

Will Scooby and Scrappy forgive him? Have you?
