Nas owes three million dollars in back taxes.

In when keeping it hood rich goes wrong news, TMZ reports that according to court documents Nas owes over three million in back taxes.

Indeed, the IRS placed a $3,365,671.26 lien against him. This an increase from the $2,584,206.31 lien the IRS filed last week against him.

If his tax problems weren’t bad enough, Nas faces jail time for failure to fork over $200,000 in child support and alimony to his ex-wife, Kelis.

And TMZ says Nas is now returning to the it’s cheaper to keep her route – sending off a series of emails that detail where the pair can meet “face to face.”

But Kelis is said to be adamant about moving on and already has a new boyfriend ready to help her spend Nas’ money.

Or better yet, what’s left of it.

The site added that Nas is unaware of the consequences he faces and as a result is spending every dollar he makes.

He reportedly made $50,000 for a gig during the Sundance Film Festival but spent the money before he left.

I expect a judge and a sheriff to play the role of Nas and Ginuwine in their rendition of “You Owe Me” in no time.

Nas is facing jail time after a contempt motion was filed against him in his bitter legal battle with ex-wife, Kelis.

THE SPIN
Somewhere Kelis and her attorney are singing: “Shawty, say what’s your price, just to back it up you can hold my ice.”

I’m sure one of them Diddy-bopped for good measure.

That’s because Kelis’ attorney claims Nas owes more than $200,000 in child support and alimony in addition to attorney’s fees.

Kelis’ legal shakedown specialist filed a contempt motion earlier because her client’s ex-husband refuses to pay up.

When he appeared in court, though, Nas pled not guilty. If convicted in a contempt hearing next month, he faces jail time.

More recently, Nas included the line in a new track with Damian Marley that went:

“How in the hell am I supposed to stay comfy/ When I pay child support, alimony monthly….”

If I were ordered to pay more than $51,000 a month, I’d probably say worse.

Kelis spoke on her thoughts about the public’s opinion to her public divorce proceedings with Nas and her influence on younger singers.

THE SPIN
Chances are if you’re a long-time Kelis fan when you spotted Rihanna, Cassie, and others rocking a half shaven head or a cut that it looked so oddly familiar you started singing, “I’M BOSSY!”

At least that’s what I did. When Rihanna wasn’t raiding FeFe Dobson’s closet for her revamped style she seemed to have been hitting Google Images for inspiration. Inspiration she seems to have found from Kelis.

Don’t worry, she noticed it, too, and when asked about it in an interview with Honey magazine this is what she had to say:

In regards to you, that seems to be the consensus for a lot of today’s female artists as well. How do you feel about all these half-shaved heads on chicks like Cassie and Rihanna?

Well I was definitely the first to do it. The only other person I would give credit before me is Pepa. Other than that, I expect them to copy me. What else are they supposed to do? They’re young. God bless them.

It gets interesting though because you’ve reached a point where you can actually see the artists of Generation Kelis, yet it’s not like you’ve retired.

Yeah. At the end of the day, everyone is just waiting for someone to do something new and if it’s generally me, then I’ll take that responsibility (laughs).

Who do you think did your look the best?

Oh, I don’t know. They’re all duplicates (laughs).

(Laughs) You’re like, “I did it the best, f*ck that!”

I did though (laughs).

Oh and for those of us who’ve had to say something about her divorce one way or another (I’m thinking more so you, Method Man and Redman), Kelis added:

On your blog you mentioned walking down the street pregnant and hearing New Yorkers say so much to you. You recently went through your divorce with Nas and when a lot of celebrity couples separate, the public tends to take sides and be very verbal about who they do and don’t support…

I don’t give a sh*t about that. I don’t give a shit what anyone has to say about [my divorce].

Were you receiving both love and hate?

Yeah, I get both, but I don’t really care either way (laughs). At the end of the day it’s my life.

Indeed. I must ask, despite everything are you and Nas cool with each other?

(Laughs) We’re not talking about it.
